Hello fellow hubbers, as I created a new hub yesterday I found that attempting to create a link to one of my other hubs as a refference would not work. I kept getting an error that it was a bad link. After giving up on that and finishing my hub I discovered that the suggest links option would just go into an endless thinking mode when I made a selection for a suggested linking term, so I gave up on that too.
I am fairly confident that all this has something to do with efforts to correct recent google update and traffic drop issues related to backlinks. I was just hoping maybe someone could feel me in a bit, seems that the format upgrade has left me behind, I am definitely missing some critical information here.
Someone else complained of a similar thing on the forums a few hours ago. It looks like a temporary HP glitch. At least I hope it is temporary.
It must have started today. I added over a dozen links yesterday.
So it sounds like the capability has not been removed, nor has their been a restriction. I was working on my newest hub late in the day yesterday, and I tested it again this morning, same result.
When I would suggest a link it would highlight it and then and endless "working" icon would pop up, I would wait for up to 10 minutes before I gave up on waiting for it to load.
The link capsule would tell me that my link was bad when I would paste it in. The link is functional it is included in other hubs and works as we speak.
OK...
That was what I was wondering, is if it was a temporary glitch type of issue, or if it was some kind of new restriction.
I have never had any problem adding links or suggesting links before, meaning I once knew how it worked, and then find that nothing I once knew worked yesterday or this morning. That was why I figured I must have missed something.
If it's a glitch, which it sounds like it is, hopefully this thread may attract more attention to confirm that suspicion.
I highlight the term, then use the add link, in the text capsule. copy and paste manually.
It does offer suggestions for hubs based on term highlighted.
Too bad the thread could not be moved to Report a Technical Problem or Bug, staff would notice faster.
edit: I just tested, worked fine for me?
Maybe I have been restricted from linking... Hmm? LOL...
I'll test again in a bit and see what happens.
No dice, still tells me bad link, and the endless working icon on suggestions. ???
Have you cleared your cache? Tried a different browser? Restarted your PC?
RB, when you try suggesting links does the black suggest links box pop up to the right of the screen? You know the one that gives you your hub Karma score etc.
I no longer get that box when I click on that option.
I do not use that. When in edit mode, in the text capsule there is a chain and a broken chain. I use this to insert links, the broken chain disables links.
Highlight the term and click the chain.
Much more control, IMO.
Ahh! Suggesting the link in edit mode did work, I do like that better. Thanks
I still can not add a link to a link capsule though.

I understand the rationale for removing amazon capsules. I'm very careful not to include amazon capsules unless they are 100% relevant, and I can provide a personal opinion. I rarely do more than one per hub.HP is not only snipping amazon capsules on hubs for niche sites, but also just to have a...

My most recently snipped hub is about a specific product that is not readily available in stores. It used to have an amazon capsule, but that was deleted courtesy of HubPro a while back. Made no sense to me at the time because I've had multiple sales through amazon for that product, but I didn't...

How do I highlight words to create links to other hubs? With the new update, I can't seem to highlight words anymore to link to other hubs. Does anyone know how? I looked in the learning center, didn't see any answers.

I know it's been asked before. I've even asked it before. But is there a better and easier way to bring in links to a link capsule from another hub. It'd make linking series so much easier. I spent about 2 hours yesterday linking an old series that I have together. It included about 20 or so hubs...

Is it possible to add a feature to links within text and to the photos to opt to have the link open in a new window? This would allow the reader to stay on the original page. Bounce rates rise every time someone leaves a page before reading the entire article, for whatever reason. If relevant links...

Has anyone else experienced editors adding a further reading section to the end of their article? I have not had an article edited in quite some time and I'm not sure the best way to go about this. Email them or change/remove the links myself?Three of the four links are exactly what I wrote and are...
