Worked for days updating my hubs and "correcting" all the things wrong. Tried to follow the advise of Hub Pages precisely and then nothing. Then something happened - it was bad, really bad, much worst. I gave up and cried. I returned and asked for help again from the team at Hub Pages. I deleted Amazon capsules, minimized eBay capsules, deleted the cross promotion links and updated the tags on my photos and much more!.

I followed suggestion after suggestion and now today my traffic is up - way up!

    LOOK!!!! Isn't it beautiful!

There was a new panda run recently and it looks as if, this time, the algorithm liked the changes that you made!

You don't know much better I feel every time I see someone recover like this. There can be life after death, lol.

      Many congratulations.

There was a Panda update at the start of the week.  Some hubbers seem to have benefited and some seem to have been hit.  I'm glad your hard work has paid off, GmaGoldie and you are on the up, if indeed it was your work that caused the rise!  (difficult to know anything for certain!)  smile

I'm not convinced it was your hard work. My traffic is up, and I've done absolutely nothing.

Were you previously hit by Panda?

GmaGoldie was hit, I reckon and this looks like a recovery.

I'll join this party. I have a hub that has been a traffic corpse forever. I put it number 1 on my profile. It's now actually getting traffic.

If you had the time, it would be interesting to know what you did exactly, besides the things that you mentioned. Did you delete any hubs, for example?

    1. GmaGoldie profile image80
GmaGoldieposted 12 years agoin reply to this

I deleted allot of hubs, I deleted my profile info at the end of each hub with the disclosure information, I deleted as many eBay capsules as practical and Amazon capsules are now very rare. I added unique descriptions to all the photos. I edited the beginning and the ending text capsules and double checked for spelling. I did the whole nine yards. I haven't touched every hub but at least now I have  solid format to work with. It hurt to delete all the product capsules because I spent hours putting them in but if the Google gods do not like them out they go. And I must agree, the articles are much more concise than before - it is all about content.

I just hope 2013 doesn't have major changes, I am exhausted.

Thanks, I reckon that is a useful list for anyone who gets a hit.

I imagine it was hard work with 241 hubs but not too many people get out from under Panda, so worth it.

I automatically delete hubs that don't do well these days. In fact, I counted the deletions a few days ago and it was nearly 100 pages, dumped in the last year (if you include the 20 on my 2nd account which was so commercial I decided it was beyond salvaging).

Looks real good to me that you managed to tweek-up your traffic... What exactly did you do? Please share how Hubpages helped you in doing so?

Hubpages has a page on recovery from sudden traffic drops in the learning center, I think that's what she means.  Paul and Jason (HP staff) also give tips in the forums sometimes.  All of it is worth reading in my opinion.

That said, I have put lots of time into "fixing" my hubs and moved or deleted over 70, but not seen a dramatic improvement as yet.  I could do even more, of course, but I have to split my time with other projects.

You guys say you delete hubs. Do you mean "unpublish" or actually delete them forever?

I would like to possibly delete some hubs, but think it may just be better to unpublish them.

What's the best course of action?

Either unpublishing or deleting a page gets it offline. So same effect.

It has been a rough road. The peaks and valleys. I have to admit I haven't handled the valleys too well. I have taken it personally when in fact it made me a better writer. The beta testing was difficult for the person who is not first and a foremost a writer. I lack the creative skill but I love the part of sharing ideas so that is why I stayed with it.

I have to wonder also if the slide share ads have helped me. I didn't even think about that contributing. I must learn more about the roll out and see if it happens to match with my upward swing.

I have devoted allot of time and effort to the photo capsules.

Whatever the exact details I don't know as yet but I am very grateful for the support and guidance from everyone here. HubPages is truly a want-a-be writer's Sangri - La.

    Congrats!

My traffic is rising as well, albeit very slowly. It is consistent at this point - it had slowly been rising but after the 19th it has risen a bit faster.  I did cut down amazon capsules, although I left many.. I also unpublished over 400 hubs and am reworking them and republishing. I started a new profile and began adding food articles that were basically unrelated to the homesteading/gardening/ natural health articles on this profile.
Going forward I will be focusing on updating and improving a few hubs every week, watching more closely for traffic drops, etc.

Marye, I was hoping to ask you about your traffic since you're one of the Success Story Hubbers on the homepage. I was curious if you have experienced significant lows in traffic. My traffic started dropping around February this year and I'm wondering if you experienced anything similar.

Yep. Mine tanked in April  and has not recovered. Even though it has come p a little in the past month I am 78% down from this time last year. It has been painful. hmm

I noticed a drop in traffic after I adopted the new Profile format. I wonder if that had anything to do with it.
