Naughty links showing for pending hubs

    Hi,
Can I claim a spotters fee for finding links for pending hubs on the site ( $20?)
    There are two:
=> They appear in the 'next' and 'previous' boxes for display of links within a link if they happen to be just that - next or previous. This may explain why the SERP sometime shows 'next' or 'previous' before the title - you said you fixed this but you haven't
=> They appear in the latest images display on the profile
    Well spotted?
It may also apply to ZZZ but I don't have any - Ha Ha
    Cheers,

Can you provide an example Hub where you are seeing the issue?

"Reluctant Serpent" is Previous but Pending

"Reluctant Serpent" is Next but Pending

The snake image is in my profile - latest Images - no link but it could be naughty next time.

I looked at both Hubs you mentioned and the Next and Previous Hubs are all published.

Also, we deliberately show unpublished Hubs to the author in some views (in edit mode I think) so that you can organize Hubs without them being first published.

            They are Published but Pending.
I thought that the policy was than links to pending hubs would not appear on Hubpages until they were cleared.
They show on the pages when I have signed out.
            Cheers,

No, the only ones that will not show for Next and Previous are those that are not published.  Pending status has no impact.

But that's the point - people can click on a pending hub link before its approved and 'featured'. Pending hubs links don't show in the hot, latest etc, nor are they listed in the profiles, because they are pending - so why are they permitted as next - previous. I don't really care - it just seems to be contrary to your own policy and may be the origin of the weight listings in the SERPS with next and previous in front of them (I do care about that).
                The end.

First of all, you know very well that we CAN display pending and idled hubs on our profiles if we so choose.  And, it's pretty easy for a person to remove their pending and idled hubs from the rotating groups display: simply remove them from the groups.

Honestly I can't figure out why you're egging them on to take away even MORE of our autonomy.  You honestly want them to take away our ability to display pending and idled hubs in groups?  Those of us who think HP has no clue what they are doing would prefer that they not meddle any more than they already have.  So if you don't want your pending and idle hubs showing in groups you can take care of that yourself but for chissakes don't give them any more ideas about how they can limit our ability to promote pending and idled hubs.

I know this thread is three weeks old, but I missed it first time round.

We don't want to show idle hubs on our profile, through hub grouping links or anywhere else until they have become featured.

The simple reason for that is because when pending hubs show, at all, there is a chance the googlebot will visit, see the noindex tag, and go away.

Sometimes it will not then re-visit the hubs for weeks, months even.

                    It effectively kills new hubs.

Hide your new, pending hubs folks!

Don't promote them or link them to Facebook or Twitter. Simply publish and forget them for 24 hours.

Once they are featured, do what you usually do.

I honestly think new hubs should not be shared with followers either. Hide them completely. Simply taking adverts off is not enough (HP are starting that any day now).

Everything looked fine when I viewed this, just seconds ago.  Maybe the issue has been fixed, or maybe it depends on what you have been searching for (not meaning to offend anyone of course, but I meant if a keyword you had searched for somehow linked to something "naughty"....  you know what I mean I'm sure.)

I'm curious about this waqqqq because my latest hub from last night did not automatically show up on my profile, as usual, but is showing on my pending.   This is the first time this has happened to me.  And I didn't know that I could somehow put a pending hub on my profile  - I just always assumed they went there  -and then if there was a problem, they were removed.   I'm wondering if something was changed on my settings because this is the first time this has happened to me.   Also I noticed I was not getting any email notifications.  Went to my settings and saw these things were not checked for some reason.  Something screwy has happened.  I'm new (fairly)so don't understand it all.  With regards to my latest hub  -when I hit "publish" there was a message that I didn't read  - got out too soon - and then noticed my hub was not on my profile. And yet two people have responded to it????

      Hey Craiglyn,
You can actual adjust the settings yourself when you enter the edit mode of your profile.  See this staff announcement:
      http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/104420

Of course, if Janderson wants to keep being "cute" and keep needling the staff to death, they might just decide to revoke that ability.  Lord knows HP is reactive enough as it is.

But what about "pending" hubs  - that's what is not showing up for me  -and this is the first time.  All of my other hubs have shown up immediately on my profile  - even though their status was pending.    Thanks for the tip on the idle hubs though -  I will look at my settings.

Oh  - never mind  - I see "pending" is the same as idle.  I did go to my settings and for some reason this was not checked as yes.   Something has happened to change my settings, but I have corrected now, and my latest "pending" hub is showing.   Thanks  waqqqqq

Yeah, sometimes there is a slight delay in getting pending hubs to appear on the profile page even if you have the profile settings box checked to display everything. I just chalk it up to usual system lag.  I wish I could answer that, it happens to about half of my newly published hubs.
