I have 2 hubs with the dreaded zzz mark; I can understand the one for it's about sleep apnea and has never pulled in much traffic.
But I can't understand why the other hub is idle; it was even nominated for a Hubnugget and it has always did fairly well with traffic, considering it could be thought of as a seasonal one. I'm lost to how to make it active again. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Check this out in the Learning Center: http://hubpages.com/learningcenter/Feat … -Idle-Hubs
Page halfway down and there is a section that explains how to "fix it quickly". Hope it works for you!
Go into edit mode, change the title by one word, save it, and then wait 24 hours and the hub will lose the Zzz status. If you don't like the 'new' title, wait until the hub is live again and change it back to the original title. Problem solved. Otherwise, don't waste valuable time jumping through HP hoops changing anything, just unpublish the hub, de index it using the Google URL removal tool, and then 24 hours later move it to a site which is getting much better traffic than HP, e.g. Squidoo (check out the Quantcast Graphs if you need convincing of the traffic differences). Converting the hubs to ebooks is another great option that will probably produce far more revenue for you, (this is the move I am making right now after over 4 years on here).
Good Luck
As Misty says, it's not worth trying to second-guess the reason, as there seem to be several factors at play. Just get it out of idle and see how it goes.
All you have to do is change the title, or change one sentence in the text. Wait 24 hours and all will be well.
Thanks, Angelique and Ms Dee. I read the portion you referred to, Ms. Dee, but in process of trying to process too much info at one time (haven't been on here in weeks, months?), it was good to see someone bring it up and be reminded. Kinda like a quiz refresher!
Oh, Ms Dee, so glad to see this. I had no zzz's, but I personally unpub'd almost everything until I could regroup, etc. Now, the 1st hub written since back (done last night) has two comments (changes mean I have no idea how to respond so wrote new hub--hah) but has been labeled substandard for lack of content, which puzzles me. My hubs are, if anything, too long, and this hub was aimed strictly at hubbers, because I love you all. Any suggestions from anyone welcome!
Teylina, tried to go look at one of your hubs to see if I had any feedback to offer, but no hubs show on your profile page.
I looked as well Teylina and didn't see any. Hope it's an easy fix. Best of luck.
Teylina - never, ever, ever unpublish anything, unless you think you're at risk of being penalized for something. If a Hub is unpublished for too long (i.e more than a few days), you'll lose all the reputation it has built up with Google. Even a little helps! You can edit and improve your Hubs without unpublishing them.
Are you sure "substandard" was the reason for your Hub being unpublished? If you quote the actual message here, we can probably help you work out what was wrong. I suspect the reason is more likely that it was too personal.
It's idle because it probably hasn't had much traffic in a while. Try updating the hub with new information. That will most likely take it off the idle status...
I agree with lovebuglena. I made some improvements on a hub that had fallen to the bottom of the totem pole with respect to my other hub scores, and had been attacked by the dreaded Z Monster. It worked. A few days later, there was a little more traffic, and the Z's had disappeared.
Why do all that work? Changing the title or a sentence is all it takes to get it out of idle.
hello, you can edit some text from your hub, and re-publish it, that's it,
It might be a mistake by hubpages. I had a similar problem where ads were disabled. Twice on the same hub... But I didn't do any wrong things! I would try to email hubpages if I were you

I know that you can choose to display your idle hubs on your profile page, but I don't, because I don't want Google to see them at all and get confused by all those "do not follow." What this means is that my idle hubs are not available for anyone to see, and I have to actively...

In the past few days my traffic had dropped to 1/3 of what it was. Most of it lost from Google. Besides the latest Panda update, which helped some and hurt others, I am wondering if a change that HubPages just made had had a negative effect...Ten of my hubs that were idle (not featured) have...

I already had one post about low traffic. Here is another one. It just keeps going down. I was excited at first about being on Hubpages, but that has changed. Traffic was going up, and I was enthused about writing again. From my high point on hub traffic, which was on September 7, my traffic has...

My most recent hub was Snipped and given a new short title by staff which does not properly reflect the contents of the hub. Views have been negatively impacted and have not picked up after the change. I want to change the title back to what it was. I wrote to staff...

So I've deleted all of the idled hubs so far and am wondering when I will have none left. I'm not going to edit anymore until I see some sort of improvement in traffic. Too much trouble for no results at all. With all of the scrapers and with HP's brilliant program I'll soon have...

Should you update a Hub when you see its traffic waning, even before it's gone Idle? Will this keep it from going Idle and increase traffic to it?
