   I just got a message saying that my http://pcunix.hubpages.com/hub/Will-I-f … -follow-me is "Purely Personal"
   
   Amusingly, it also has that congratulatory "Well Done!" hash mark that tells me how much everyone likes it.
   
   I think I'm done with this particular band of idiots.   I'll be taking down all my hubs as quickly as I can get to it.

      What's the issue? I skimmed your hub and it is purely personal.  Not that I disagree with the sentiment of your piece, but all it is is an essay on your particular thought process when deciding whether or not to follow people.  Only someone with a personal interest in you and your opinions would be interested in reading it.   And it's not particularly humorous, so you're not attracting a general audience looking for chuckles either.

      I know we haven't heard much from you recently, but I see you as one of the good guys on here.
      
      I read your hub.
      
      It is a written-for-hubbers type hub.
      
      While not purely personal by a  long chalk, it wouldn't be of much interest to anyone outside of Hubpages, but you knew that when you wrote it.
      
      Rules allowed it then; they should allow it now.

            I see the article from the perspective of pcunix's 'personal' preferences of how he chooses to follow others, which may not be the same way others choose to follow.

      It's the reverse of the original "Zzzzz" flag. It just means these hubs are "active" as opposed to "inactive".

   That just buys into the BS games that many of us have been subjected to and have endured for a long time... Most don't understand what I'm saying, because they don't see or believe the 'bullying' that goes on in the background...
   
   Success is always the best strategy for such trials and forced insecurities... 
   
   Rewrite it without the 'I's and make it purely pointed!

   No.  It will take me a bit of time, but I'm not going to help jerks like this make money.  Even if I don't put them somewhere else, I don't want them here.

      Hubpages have lost their personal touch. I know they have a lot of total crap to wade through, but surely they could expend a little of the human touch to well-known hubbers?
      
      Is that too much to ask?
      
      I am personally moving a lot of what I would consider to be my best stuff offsite. Google didn't like it here.
      
      Going by what Google is sending traffic to, I think Google want well-written crap - popular stuff that didn't take a lot of brain power or knowledge to write.
      
      Time after time, I have seen hubbers relate that their most popular hub was something that they considered to be a light topic, something written half in jest, and which took them about 10 minutes to put together.
      
      To be honest, my most popular hubs have been on the unusual, something that has been big news at one point, like my Angie Verona hub.
      
      Not it, in particular, as it is far from the most viewed hub.
      
      I remember when I was quite new here, someone's hub on beef stew had gone viral. Millions of hits. This sort of thing is still possible.
      
      It probably isn't going to happen on a 'written for HP' hub.

         Oh I totally added a beef stew recipe last night! Fingers crossed eh! I have noticed that there doesn't seem to be a huge corrolation between really well written inetersting hubs and the ones that seem to get high traffic. Its very true that well written crap does better than intelligent interesting articles!

   PC Unix, I just read the hub in question and as it stands, it could be classed as "purely personal" but it would take very little work on your part to expand on the whole phenomenon of following, friending etc. and how it's changed the way people interact on the Internet over the last few years. That would take it out of "purely personal" territory and into the realms of the philosophical/cultural.
   
   Trouble is, philosophical/cultural isn't what HP seems to want now. They want recipes and fashion and "how to clean seagull droppings off your windows" type articles.

   Anyway.
   
   Here's what some words say on an HP profile of someone who hasn't written anything at all...
   
   "Look's like xxxxxxxxxxx is still pretty new to HubPages. Now's your chance to be the first to greet them and welcome them to the amazing HubPages community. Follow them to let them know they have an audience for their work, or send Fan Mail and ask them to share more about themselves."
   
   What a heap of crap.
   
   Why would you follow or fan someone who hasn't written a single word?  That way lies garbage content and in-group nonsense.
