I just got a message saying that my http://pcunix.hubpages.com/hub/Will-I-f … -follow-me is "Purely Personal"
Amusingly, it also has that congratulatory "Well Done!" hash mark that tells me how much everyone likes it.
I think I'm done with this particular band of idiots. I'll be taking down all my hubs as quickly as I can get to it.
What's the issue? I skimmed your hub and it is purely personal. Not that I disagree with the sentiment of your piece, but all it is is an essay on your particular thought process when deciding whether or not to follow people. Only someone with a personal interest in you and your opinions would be interested in reading it. And it's not particularly humorous, so you're not attracting a general audience looking for chuckles either.
Would you listen if I asked you not to go?
I know we haven't heard much from you recently, but I see you as one of the good guys on here.
I read your hub.
It is a written-for-hubbers type hub.
While not purely personal by a long chalk, it wouldn't be of much interest to anyone outside of Hubpages, but you knew that when you wrote it.
Rules allowed it then; they should allow it now.
Please explain why you think that hub is not personal?
Where did I claim it was personal? I merely asked for clarification.
It's about how to get followers, not some random diary entry. I see nothing personal about it.
And seriously, is hubpages every going to do something about the infestation of sock-trolls in this forum?
I know. They are worse than bed bugs.
They are almost as bad as phony "psychologists"!
Hey thanks, I appreciate that. Seriously.
I see the article from the perspective of pcunix's 'personal' preferences of how he chooses to follow others, which may not be the same way others choose to follow.
I think Tussin hit the nail on the head with his analysis.
That little "H" mark? That's NOT "well done".
It's the reverse of the original "Zzzzz" flag. It just means these hubs are "active" as opposed to "inactive".
You must be living in your own little world big time. I wouldn't follow you to a free lunch.
Nor would I follow you to one....you clueless troll.
Don't toss your toys mate!
That just buys into the BS games that many of us have been subjected to and have endured for a long time... Most don't understand what I'm saying, because they don't see or believe the 'bullying' that goes on in the background...
Success is always the best strategy for such trials and forced insecurities...
Rewrite it without the 'I's and make it purely pointed!
Why should I expend my time rewriting something that obviously is NOT personal?
And then wait for some slack jawed cretin with no obvious sign of brain activity to decide that some other hub violates their new rules?
No. It will take me a bit of time, but I'm not going to help jerks like this make money. Even if I don't put them somewhere else, I don't want them here.
It is still published, so you must have been sent a threat.
LOL you make me laugh the way you have described the moderators!
Hubpages have lost their personal touch. I know they have a lot of total crap to wade through, but surely they could expend a little of the human touch to well-known hubbers?
Is that too much to ask?
I am personally moving a lot of what I would consider to be my best stuff offsite. Google didn't like it here.
Going by what Google is sending traffic to, I think Google want well-written crap - popular stuff that didn't take a lot of brain power or knowledge to write.
Time after time, I have seen hubbers relate that their most popular hub was something that they considered to be a light topic, something written half in jest, and which took them about 10 minutes to put together.
To be honest, my most popular hubs have been on the unusual, something that has been big news at one point, like my Angie Verona hub.
Not it, in particular, as it is far from the most viewed hub.
I remember when I was quite new here, someone's hub on beef stew had gone viral. Millions of hits. This sort of thing is still possible.
It probably isn't going to happen on a 'written for HP' hub.
Oh I totally added a beef stew recipe last night! Fingers crossed eh! I have noticed that there doesn't seem to be a huge corrolation between really well written inetersting hubs and the ones that seem to get high traffic. Its very true that well written crap does better than intelligent interesting articles!
I'll be sorry to see you gone. Have enjoyed your take on things, even when we don't agree.
Nooooo....don't go!
If you do, I'll still stalk you through Google+.
Hope you're well.
PC Unix, I just read the hub in question and as it stands, it could be classed as "purely personal" but it would take very little work on your part to expand on the whole phenomenon of following, friending etc. and how it's changed the way people interact on the Internet over the last few years. That would take it out of "purely personal" territory and into the realms of the philosophical/cultural.
Trouble is, philosophical/cultural isn't what HP seems to want now. They want recipes and fashion and "how to clean seagull droppings off your windows" type articles.
Gosh.
I just recently had a seagull shit one of my windows.
i did debate taking photos and writing a hub around it.
I didn't.
Someone will. And get 10k views for their trouble.
Shakes head. Time is better spent writing Nigerian scam.
Hi Unix.
Bad luck on the old purely personal thing. Fortunately everything I write is in the third person due to a long-standing mental illness.
Anyway.
Here's what some words say on an HP profile of someone who hasn't written anything at all...
"Look's like xxxxxxxxxxx is still pretty new to HubPages. Now's your chance to be the first to greet them and welcome them to the amazing HubPages community. Follow them to let them know they have an audience for their work, or send Fan Mail and ask them to share more about themselves."
What a heap of crap.
Why would you follow or fan someone who hasn't written a single word? That way lies garbage content and in-group nonsense.

I know that you can choose to display your idle hubs on your profile page, but I don't, because I don't want Google to see them at all and get confused by all those "do not follow." What this means is that my idle hubs are not available for anyone to see, and I have to actively...

If HubPages ever has a focus group of selected hubbers I would love to be a part of it. They could do some regional focus groups (maybe start in Chicago for me) and really get some great input from a hubber's perspective on tweaks. I think HubPages is awesome. I was attracted to it by its clean...

I would appreciate if Staff would tell me whether GamerGirl and Whitney, both of whom have chosen to crawl through all my output (output which staff courteously restored after I had totally deleted it on my sabbatical) and repetitively downthumb and flag me, have been assigned by staff as my...

I am sort of disappointed. I try to be active in the site as much as possible, comment on other people's hubs, help out in the forums, add new hubs once every two weeks, participate in the question and answer and my hubscore is slowly decreasing. Any advice from expert Hubbers on how to...

I like to check Hubpages on breaks at work. Now, I can't access my Hub feed because a Hubber chose to write a Hub about drugs, and Hubpages hasn't caught onto it yet. My organization is pretty fair on what it blocks/allows. Usually blocks things about gun violence, cults, and drugs. They also only...
