In my humble opinion, the HOTD should have a fabulous image.
HOTD is shown on the home page when you are not logged in.
It is important that the home page looks attractive and appealing.
The last couple are great articles, but they lack a 'wow' factor with the images.
First impressions matter in promotion.
I agree entirely, janderson99! In fact, there are many Hubs that I'd like to name Hubs of the Day but am unable to because their images do not work in our carousel.
I try to go with Hubs that lead in with as attractive of an image as possible- but if I were to stick to that rule religiously (as I did in the past), I would pretty much just be publishing travel, food, and craft Hubs, and folks get pretty mad when that happens.... :-/
I figure the best path to take is one that balances all factors, no?
That said, I'll try to pretty things up from this point on.
I wonder if maybe you could notify an author that their hub is in consideration for HOTD, but you have concerns about the photo. Perhaps that would motivate them to find or take a better one.

Hi there,I've noticed that since my hubs are no longer "new", they aren't visible on my profile page. One can find them by clicking the word "more" (next to the categories latest - hot - best), but if I direct a person who's never seen HubPages before to my profile page,...

I'm a newbie and I just discovered the customizable home page. It's VERY cool and VERY well implemented. But one thing I miss from the standard home page is seeing my author score. On the standard home page, my profile picture has the author score superimposed on the lower right corner...

Hi,I use Google Analytics to see the progress of my hubs. As you know, there is integration between Google Adsense and Google Analytics already and it is possible to see the most effective pages in terms of Adsense earnings. Hubpages currently lacks Adsense earning tracking at page level. All we...

I was wondering if the HubStaff would be able to take our individual page links with the tracker codes and place these on one page in the My Account page. This way, when we want to add these links somewhere we do not have to go to every single hub, click the "link to this page" and go to...

A great HP feature is that we're notified on our account page of broken links in hubs (the black triangle with a white exclamation point in the center). It seems there's no such notification about broken links in the hubber profile page.Only today did I realize that two links I had in my profile...

The layout change removed the listing of top hubbers. I always enjoyed reading what the top hubbers published. Maybe a layout modification is in order. Top, hot, and latest hubs are still available.
