I'm sure this topic has been done to death, but I looked at the FAQs and did a bit of searching and didn't find it, so here goes.
My hubpage about dental veneers was marked as overly promotional. I searched other similar types of hubs, such as Invisalign, and found that others like mine are getting published, so I'm trying to figure out what is it about mine that is causing the trouble.
I have one link in it to a dentist office, and one link in it to Wikipedia.
I can't post the link to the hub, I'm pretty sure, since it's not even published. Is it ok to copy and paste it here?
Maybe just an outline will do - the opening sentences of each paragraph included...
TITLE - Are Veneers Right For Me?
1...What are they? Give me the pros!
...A...Veneers are a popular option for those who wish to improve the appearance of their teeth.
...B...Veneers are commonly placed on teeth that are discolored or stained, chipped, broken, misaligned, unnaturally shaped, or that have spaces between them.
...A...Of course, nothing is perfect, and there can be some downsides to veneers.
...B...Also, keep in mind that veneers simply won’t work for everyone.
...C...You should also understand that dental veneers, even the most high quality ones, usually do not last forever.
...A...If you think veneers sound like a good option for you, set up an appointment with a dentist who is experienced in cosmetic dentistry procedures.
...B...A great many dental clients have had tremendous succuss in beautifying their first impressions with people.
I would appreciate any input. Thanks!
Goji, Hubpages generally mark Hub a "Overly Promotional" if your article have very less content (below 500 words) or if you add so many external link (affiliate links or more than 1 link to same website) Hub.
Thank you for responding! (smiley face - can't get code right)
The word count is 620 - I checked that before putting it in.
And the links I mentioned are it - no others. One to a dental office and one Wikipedia.
Gooji, I checked your hub, may be a link in a 1st line could be problem. Don't know about HubPages but many of article Submission Website don't allow any external link at least up to 1st 200 words.
Your hub already marked overly promotional OR just a suggestion message to revise you hub OR it is pending for manual review? As I don't see any problem there, your hub already has HubPages and Google Ads.
Mine has been unpublished before only because of the Wikipedia reference, remove that link and you should be fine
Wow! You can see it??
This is the message at the top, and it says it cannot be published until I address the alert.
Now I'm really confused. LOL
Please address the moderator set alert below before submitting this Hub for publication.
This Hub needs to be revised before it can be published.
OK the wikipedia link is 269 words into the article
and the dental link is 472 words into the article.
I would have thought that hubpages would want links to places that are non promotional and are in good standing with the internet community, rather than just a link to a website that has a service or product. You think the Wiki link might be the trouble, though?
Just delete the links and publish it once and see what happens, otherwise delete this hub and publish it again with same text but without links.
Actually as per HubPages terms, you can place links for reference but can,t place link that promote other website or your own website.
Link to Dentist office may be marked as promotional link, just check once.
It happened to me once, my hub was active and getting good traffic for 3 months but after three months I got a message that ads are disabled on that Hub. I edited it many time but did't work, at last I deleted hub and published again, now it is doing good.

LInks to Wikipedia don't count according to rules. The link to the dentist office may be doing it.
I would contact email@example.com and ask them for specifics.
We are allowed to use links of our own, 2 to the same domain.
Thanks so much for the helpful feedback. I've gone in, made some changes, and will contact that email if it is rejected again.
I appreciate the email link very much, I was looking for that.
HP itself at the learning center shows off 2 hubs they claim are perfect. One must have 5 maps in it with a link to each one leading to various gardens in NYC. Now why is that one perfect with over 5 links, and others are overly promotional.
Standard informational sites (wikipedia, googlemaps etc) are exempt.
In general, overly promotional means more than two links to a particular website and you do not have that. It can also mean, however, a hub that is designed primarily to entice a visitor to click through to another commercial site.
While it would disagree that your are doing that, it is possible that HP thinks you are with the single link to the dentist's office. Outside of a very small handful of visitors local to the Raleigh, Va. area, the link provides no useful information to readers. You might consider removing it as superfluous to the hub. If you could find a national organization that provides advice on local dentists throughout the country, that might make a nice replacement (IMHO - HP might again think differently).
It might be overuse of the word veneers. I had a hub that I kept making changes to and it didn't get approved till I removed a few instances of the word. This happens especially when the hub has a low word count.
I haven't read your hub, but some of the information you are being given here is wrong, whilst some is good. Basically overly promotional means linking more than twice to the same (commercial) domain (in other words a 'for profit' domain), and this includes your own websites, although you are allowed to link to them up to twice in one hub. You may also have used more Amazon or Ebay adverts than you are allowed to, which is one product per 50 words of text. Multiple use of a term like 'veneer' is not a problem, but could cause your hub to not be highly rated because it is keyword stuffed, but this is not the same as overly promotional. You can link to external websites like Wikipedia without it counting as a 'promotional link'.
As you describe the hub it doesn't sound like you broke any obvious rules, so contacting HP using the firstname.lastname@example.org email is probably your best bet.
By the way, the code for a smiley face is a colon followed by a closed bracket, for a sad face follow it by an open bracket. Smiley face therefore = : ) (remove space between colon and closed bracket)
Hey um I love your picture your really cute I like your username and it is very cute.

I'm pretty new to HubPages (joined 6 weeks ago but got "busy" about 2 weeks ago posting Hubs) -- I got spanked last week and had a hub taken down temporarily for citing direct links to the particular information relating to multiple parties (all of which linked to SEC.gov, but different...

A lens of mine that was transferred to HubPages was identified as having too many affiliate links. I cleared out all the links except one affiliate link and one link to Wikipedia. The only other links on the page are all the ads that HubPages loads up the header, footer, and sidebar...
