I started posted my first article on 2/19/13 and so far I have now posted 14 hubs. My earning is $ 0.98 as of 3/23/13. Is this earning too slow?
No. It's almost always tough going at first.
Yep- paradigmsearch is right. It takes quite some time to build up traffic and earnings! Be patient and don't give up.
I had almost same earnings in my first month. Now I earn far more better. Just keep going and you ll be good to earn more.
Thanks God! I have never earned a single dime online though I started blogging back in November 2012! It seems there is a magic wand for those who earn online.
I earned a sizeable chunk less than that in my first 32 days, and has been said already, it takes time.
Initially I wrote about 50 hubs over 8 months or so (prior to the Hubpages Ad Program), then was rather dispirited after a few months of the ad program but couldn't think of anything to write about that was going to be good. Then I spent a while tweaking hubs; odd words here n there, new pictures, sometimes complete overhauls. I think the thing that helped the most was getting rid of hubs that simply weren't getting the views.
Now I have 27 hubs (up from 22, post-culling) and while I don't exactly earn a living, I do get paid every month or two. This is from what I feel to be a rather minimal effort on my part.
Point is, keep with it, you'll be fine!
My earnings haven't moved for 2 days. That seems out of the ordinary. Are they maybe just stuck?
Usually it's because HP is waiting on reports/data from one or more of the advertisers.
so... Matthew tried to explain once how the view stats worked, but I didn't follow. It changes thru out the day?
Every hour or so. Or 3 or 4 or 5.
That's been known to get stuck, too. Sometimes the entire weekend.
So when it says "day" and it say 3 under that column, does that mean 3 new ppl that hour and then it says 4, does it mean 4 new ones the following hour or does it mean you gained one more the following hour?
While it says "day" it actually means "24 hours". From the last update, measure back 24 hours and count all views since that time.
Ideally the last update was 5 minutes ago, but that seldom happens. I don't understand what the time since last update even means anymore - that it was always about 2 hours ago?
I don't understand, if they're always changing, how can you measure back and count? It sounds simple, but Im missing something.
You can't, but HP keeps track at all times (until it freezes!).
So they know you got a visit at midnight, 2, 3 and 5 o'clock. They just count them up.
So at 10 AM Tuesday they simply count all visits between 10AM Monday and 10AM Tuesday, then report that figure. By do so doing those views that had been reported at 9AM, and that were received between 9 and 10AM Monday, drop off the count while those received between 9 and 10AM Tuesday are added.
A rolling count, it's called.
That's usually a musical count. I guess its like a running total? I think that's what you mean.
Thank you for taking the time to explain.
Yes, slow-going at first, and then you will see sudden surges as Google discovers you. A big factor is to keep publishing hubs!
I see that the earning stats are perking right along. And they are reflecting the increase in traffic. Looking like the start of a pleasant week indeed.
Yeah, mine moved again. Not by leaps and bounds, of course, but up and that's all that really matters. lol
Mine are showing issues - it's time to look for copied hubs again. Whenever I see dramatic drops in high-performing hubs, they've been copied. Again.
Sadly - they just plain don't recover afterward - at least not so far. The views drop quickly, and it takes forever to get the copied sites removed (plural). And the hub(s) are tanked afterward. Not sure if I have the time or energy to keep tracking those things.
It is a fine art to write stuff that is so crappy that it never gets stolen, but can still slither by QAP.
Marcy, You reminded me of something I need to do too. I last checked almost a year back. Just wanted to ask you how you check duplicate content. I use Premium copyscape and still not very satisfied with the results. It is going to be quite a task to check all the Hubs and get the copied content removed.
Hi, Anamika -
I am doing it the tedious, manual way - I put a small clip (phrase) in quotes and search for it in Google. It's getting to be very discouraging - finding more and more, every day, and traffic dropping after it grows.
Also - I just found a 'Hubber" here with a new account and no content who has the same username on Squidoo and has stolen at least two hubs - one of mine, and one from another Hubber. I flagged the profile and explained why I think she's copying things. Hope they see the same issues and nuke her.
Doing it the manual way is quite tedious and not accurate. However, you can still catch some culprits. Adding more content to hubs and rewriting the summary based on search keywords have helped me gain traffic to stolen hubs. You can try that too!
Yes, it starts low. Just keep publishing quality hubs and don´t lost your hope;-) Your time will come to earn more than what you think.
How to show Adsense only ads. I guess that'd increase the earnings. In default setting Adsense ad is shown only in the bottom.
In the beginning, you would be getting less amount. but never get disappointed because after sometime this money will surely increase. I have gone through the same phase but now i am earning a good amount fro Hubpages Earning program.

I mean can it be done? I've made it to sixty cents this month. That's the most I have made so far, but am not sure if you can really make a lot on hubpages? Is it possible to do it? I've just written six to eight hubs today. I'm guessing that the more often you publish...

I am curious how much others are making in 2022. Most income reports that I find are from years ago. I'm earning from articles I wrote years ago and am considering jumping back in but wanted to motivate myself/see if it's still working for others. Just wondering if others are willing to share? I'm...

I suppose I'm just trying to find out if I'm the only one with this particular "backlinking disability" (maybe it should be a new, officially-named, mental disorder, "BDD" - Backlinking Disability Disorder). This thread is part venting, part hoping someone can point out...

When I go to 'my account' then the HP ad programme is showing my earning so far this month but that amount is different when I check the 'earning' section. Here, in this section the amount showing up in the column specified for the earning of this month is less than the amount shown on 'my account'...

How much can you earn from Hubpages. For example if somebody has posted 50 articles in a year, has 100 followers and has readership of 20.000 a month. What will be the monthly earning. Thanks.
