Very simply... what is your favourite Bob Dylan song?

I love "It's all over now Baby Blue", "Knocking on Heaven's Door", "It's all right ma (I'm only bleeding)",
"Like a Rolling stone", and "Maggie's Farm..."

I also love the Hendrix cover of "All along the watchtower..." :-)

    My favorite one is Senor.
Hendrix cover of the "wachtower" is out of any competition smile

Tangled Up in Blue is pretty good, that and Like a Rolling Stone are faves. All Along the Watchtower is great but the darn commercial radio stations have played the Hendrix version to death- really a cringing overload. Wish they would play Dylan's original song instead!

    Great choices, all of those!

Did anybody get the "Oh Mercy" album about 15 years ago... some great songs on it too --- especially "What good am I?"

My absolute fave Dylan tune is Desolation Row. It is one of the most epic songs of all time. It is the height of poetic genius. I also am really into Idiot Wind one of the best FU songs written about a former lover ever. I also dig his early 60s protest material with Only a Pawn in Their Game, Masters of War & A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall being my favorites of his socially conscious tunes.

I didn't know that one - Desolation Row.  Thanks!

It is from Highway 61 Revisited (my favorite Dylan album, with Blood on the Tracks being a close second). The song is also 11 minutes long. It is an epic way to close off the album.

Highway 61 Revisited is a brilliant piece of musical history, my favorite Dylan album.  No one else could have penned Desolation Row and given it a voice like he did.  I have quite a few Dylan bootlegs.  He is certainly one of the best living songwriters.

There's not many song-writers better than him... I can't really think of any.
I know that music is a subjective thing and there's no point in arguing about who is better than who but for song-writing, I think he is on his own
