Have just created a HP account and an Amazon Associates account with ID.

When I goto my earnings settings in my account, the supposed Amazon option under External Affiliate Settings is not there, just Google Adsense.  How can I enter my Amazon Associates ID if the Amazon option not there?

HubPages handles everything for Amazon when you are part of the in-house program.

You can not use both the in-house Amazon program and your own Amazon account (an external account) on your Hubs simultaneously.  It's one or the other.

Actually, with no content published I'm pretty sure the system may try and stop you from completing all the affiliate sign-ups.

And since you've been on the site for mere minutes, I'd like to suggest you read http://hubpages.com/faq/ as it explains how things here work.

Yes, I realize you cannot have both types of Amazon accounts.  As I am new, I do not yet have content for an Adsense account so I am not configured for the in house Ad Program, thus shouldn't the external option be available?

Go re-read the 4th sentence in my earlier reply.

You may not be allowed to link your Amazon Associates account with HubPages until you publish some content first. You can only use Amazon Associates when you publish hubs. That's the only place you can include links to Amazon products. Now there are two options - you can use your own Amazon Associates account or opt to use the HubPages one. That means that you will get a higher percentage per product sold.

Right, thank you.  I see that it would be best to use the HP Program to receive the higher rates, but if I understand correctly, I must have enough content to acquire an Adsense account first in order to sign up for Amazon under the HP program.

I thought it would be beneficial to be able to earn under the Amazon Associates program while building enough content to be accepted in the HP program and Asdsense.

      Thanks for your help.

Also, reading all the material in the FAQs and following the Amazon Associates links in the tutorial in the Learning Centre, it appears that the Amazon External Affiliate link should already be there and ready to use.

I'll see what happens after some content.
