Today I knock down my profile score to no-follow.

    My current score is 87.

    Watch it happen here.

How? I shall minor edit hubs until it happens.

    Stay tuned.

Following you---as I have been for some time.

That said, I did some revisions to all of my hubs to bring them "in line" with current requirements and for each one got a  note indicating that "hubs like this get 300% more traffic" and "great job", etc.

The result: This morning my hubber score is down again---to 87.

I am close to giving up.

And what really annoys me is that others with no featured content or with just 2-3 featured hubs retain hubber scores far in excess of ours.

I just read through this thread, and it looks like you are not even discussing the hubber score anymore, so I do not know if you even want my input.
      If I can comment, though...
I edit all the time, and it does not affect my hubber score. I think that editing a few hubs really does not make that big of a difference. A score might go down, but it goes back up in a few days.
As far as traffic goes, I am not sure if you are really concerned or just joking. If you are concerned, I like the suggestion about changing your titles. Some of my most successful hubs are not those with a lot of keywords, just a short title that is to the point. (Five Skinny Dog Breeds, for example. It is only four words. It is not something that is searched for a lot, but Google puts my article near the top.)

I believe you are both right. I have indeed been trimming my titles down as of late. I will continue to do so.

I exceed 5 words for my titles and they are the ones that give me traffic.I don't have as many hubs as PDS but, what I notice is that, my Hub score (author score) jumps up a few ticks whenever I submit a new article. I am concerned about my Hubbie score too, since many of my readers know me personally. It tends to give me more credibility if I am rated higher by HP. I am happy though, with my score of 88 now.

I am down to an 86 this last one week. I am cranking out two articles. I  don't know how it will affect my author score. I hope it goes up though!  big_smile

Don't bother. It won't increase your hubber score.

I published 3 FEATURED hubs in a week thinking that my failure to publish was the problem (and got all kinds of "great hub"; this type of hub gets 300% more traffic, etc. notes) and ramped up my participation in forums, answering questions, etc.

        Guess what?

I got BANNED from Hubpages for 2 days AND my hubber score declined.

In fact, I watched my Hubber score DECLINE as my hub scores (that I edited per the rules) went up.

None of this makes any sense.

Wait.. According to HP FAQ and Knowledgebase, for a blog to become no-follow, the hubber score is 85 below and individual hubs 40 below...

You have  87.. I think you are doing fine.

No, the cut-off where your links become no-follow is an author score below 85.

    1. paradigmsearch profile image60

      1. A reduction in fear concerning the updating of existing hubs.
      2. A reduction in fear concerning the creation of new hubs.

Maybe this is the dawn of a kinder, gentler HP. big_smile

I have done absolutely nothing since I joined a few weeks ago... not a single hub and my score is a strong 71 and hasn't budged. You might consider this option if you'd like your score to remain unmoved.

Is May when I left? When you wrote something nice on the forum and I sent you a thank you note? Then I weirdly stumbled on Randy's thread while trying to clear my hubs off of google (as if I knew what I was doing.) And then ppl said mean things, except you... and you tried to sort of keep it above the fray, for which I was appreciative... I wish I had a good soundtrack for this walk down memory lane... Like James Taylor. "If you're down and troubled... and you need a helping hand..." You've got a friend. I was like 5 when that song was on the radio. I have this memory of seeing someone singing that song at a concert, I don't know if it was him or not... I remember his name as being "Jim". But the strange thing is, there was a man in the audience, in a wheelchair who had a hole in the knee of his pants, where something like a thumb (or what a 5 year old imagined to be a thumb) stuck out of the hole. That is the memory. Weird huh? I think I've had too much caffeine. Here's a song for you.

And you are right. The behaviour is disconcerting.

Especially since if they had simply arrived here as a new Hubber in their own right, they would have been more than welcomed here.

Oh, well. I'm not in the world policeman business, so I'm just going to drop the issue.

I was absent during the time Beth37 became famous on HP, so I don't really know her too well. But I thought a post on a thread yesterday about male and female ponytails sounded very much like her. Sed-me has also been posting on religious threads. Maybe it would be easier to ascertain her identity by looking there--whether she's expressing her usual opinions etc. etc.

Maybe try new titles on some of your hubs. Your hubs have great information in them but the titles look a bit keyword stuffed.

For example, instead of "Gophers! How to Get Rid of Pocket Gophers. Gopher Control. Gopher Removal. Mothballs. Moles."

Do something like, "Mole Control: How to Get Rid of Pocket Gophers & Other Backyard Pests"

Just a thought really. Great hubs, just the titles could use a little work.

Hey, Sed-me - I've been wondering where you were hiding - (you're who I think you are, right?).  Have missed you!!!!

FYI - the stand-alone term 'Pocket Gopher' made me think of some sort of stuffed animal you'd haul around as a good luck charm or whatever.  Or, it might relate to a funny skit often performed at Esther's Follies (the comic place in Austin), called "Pete the Pocket Pal."  I won't spoil the fun for anyone.  If you're curious, visit Austin & we'll catch the show.

BTW - I completely misread the goal of this thread.  I thought PD was lamenting the decline of his score to the no-follow level.  Let me check a few hubs to see how I can contribute to the goal.
