I finally got an invite code for Ello this morning. Is anyone else on there?
I got an invited a few days ago. Checked out the site and declined.
No, not after Aral Balkan's piece, https://aralbalkan.com/notes/ello-goodbye/
Doesn't bother me. When they sell out, and it gets cluttered with ads I can't block, or ads in my friend stream, my tribe will undoubtedly move on to another platform.
Right now, it's a refreshingly uncluttered place to post photos. Since most of the tribe are artists, it's a much happier experience than either Facebook or G+ can provide.
Hah! No. It's what many artists of my ilk call our group of like-minded souls.
Phew I only asked because I briefly soiled myself by reading his blog the other day. "Tribe" seemed to be one of his favorite words with him as "Chief" of course.
I can honestly say there are no chiefs in our tribe. Just a bunch of creatives who sort of follow each other from place to place. Many of us were on LiveJournal, then in the same Yahoo Groups, then Facebook. We tried migrating to G+ a few years ago, but it didn't work out. Now, we're playing with Ello.
It says that they are like Facebook but they do not allow ads or sell data about you.
