I don't mean to be an irritant. I don't enjoy when ppl go off about anything. I am just very befuddled at having two remarks removed from two different threads. Both comments were on topic, but were a humorous take on the subject at hand. My comments weren't offensive or abusive. Is it required for every comment to bear the same tone now? Are different personalities welcome here? Has humor been banned or am I the unsavory element? I am no longer here often enough to be deeply hurt, so I will just say my piece and be on my way. Have a lighter day.
Mark hubber score as of 2:17 pm *84.
Posts to the official HubPages forums need to be directly related to the topic and contribute additional information.
Other comments distract from these official forums and make it hard for authors to find relevant material related to the official issues discussed.
You are more than welcome to post to other forums (like this freeform discussion forum that has less rules), but all posts in the official forums need to be related to the official topic. If you have additional information about the issue, then please post it, otherwise please refrain from posting to these forums.
Please email us at team@hubpages.com if you have any further questions.
So, had I responded by saying to the op, "I agree with you. I fail to understand how a reputable company could possibly justify a woman standing in her underwear to promote retirement plans! That alone is almost as offensive as the fact that they were advertising on your family themed hub." you would have been ok with that? B/c that was basically what I said, I just find it takes me 3 times as long to speak that language as opposed to a humorous remark, which is my natural response.
The other remark that was deleted was on the *topical forum and the op made the comment that in her village, they never made fun of the homosexual community, just the obese. lol... I'm sorry, but that comment still brings a strong reaction from me. Why is it ok to make fun of those with a weight issue? But that's not my personality... so I say, "What a relief, someone is *finally making fun of the overweight community..." I *am taking part in the conversation. I *am adding to the community here, even if you do not enjoy the way I express myself. I think you are treading on some very unstable ground when you become reactionary to the point that you are deleting valid comments, humorous or not. We all have different personalities and tones. It would be an incredibly boring forum if we all had the same personality.
(Hi Solaras, so good to see you!)
Have you noticed I stopped making comments on the forums? I got really tired of saying "Sorry, this comment does not fit your original thread" if it happened to contain an element of humor.
We were warned to stay away.
Didnt you get the memo?
No, I hadn't gotten the memo. Is that why so many ppl are disappearing? i thought those Alien abduction threads were right after all.
Then there is that Bermuda triangle thing...or did people stop believing in that and Hubber scores?
Im scared to answer, to be honest. Im afraid Ive hit my commenting quota for the day. I might come back tomorrow and find out Im not here. I know I would miss me so much. Ive really grown attached to myself. But enough about me. have you seen my hubber score?!
Oh yeah, commenting qouta. That was in the memo too. (I think it was paragraph 4, subsection 6, item 5a)
Your hubber score is way up, isnt it? I heard once they get up there you can buy them at fiverr.
I'm so old I remember a day when humor such as yours would make a person forum Queen. Forgive me, I'm just pining for the good old days.
I feel bad about the offensive comment. Flag such comment to your hubs and report to the official.
If HP's intention is to read every thread and delete every irrelevant comment, they're gonna need to hire a couple of full-time forum mods to handle that job.
Yeah, I didn't want to mention that. I thought maybe I'd get a new badge on my wall.
"Majority of comments found to be on the less relevant side than those of other hubbers."
You think you got problems?
1. My Hubber Score has dropped from 87 to 79.
2. Nobody will answer my stupid Q&A cat questions.
3. The follower count will never, ever reach 100 on this account.
4. Visitors are staying away in droves from my Avatar Hub.
5. Cute women never return my phone calls.
Oh, well.
Hi SmartAndFun,
While we do monitor the HubPages Forums pretty regularly, we rely heavily on Hubbers to flag comments that are spam, unrelated to the discussion, trolling, personal attacks, or otherwise in violation of our rules.
It's true that not every rule-breaker gets caught, simply because the offending comment may not have been flagged (and therefore our Mods never saw it), so we encourage Hubbers to help us out by reporting any inappropriate comments. Thanks!
If you are including my posts in your explanation, then I am very tempted to call you on it. My posts, as I said, were on topic, they were just humorous. I understand that it is human nature to have favorites, but to show bias would not benefit you in the long run.
With respect, I worry that you might end up regretting white washing the forum. You could find yourself surrounded by the most boring threads on the internet, and for many... it was the liveliness, fun, and interesting ppl that drew, and kept us here. The technical information is wonderful, but the interaction, encouragement and yes, even debates are what made this forum feel alive.
I am not a Moderator, so I am unsure of the details of your particular posts. If you want to know the specifics, I suggest sending an email to team@hubpages.com where a Moderator can discuss what happened with you privately.
I saw one of sed-me's posts before it was deleted. It was both hilarious and on topic. I'd like to say more on this; but quite frankly, fear prevents me.
Mods are human and do make mistakes. It's possible that her humor was mistaken for a personal attack of some sort. However, we won't be able to discuss the details publicly in the Forums.
Kristy, I totally understand. I have noticed that you seldom speak to me directly. lol... and that's ok too, 'cause if I am hard for some to tolerate, that is also very human and understandable. But my point in this thread is to say I think HP has to be careful. I have been banned several times over things that were not ban-able offenses. I simply let them go though, as I doubt you all need the headache and I can't run around defending myself all the time. I know you all have very little time for nonsense, but as I said, I hope you will make room for varying types of personalities. You might create a utopian style community here, but it is only utopian for some. For others, it might become unbearable rigid.
Yikes, I'm very sorry if you feel I've been avoiding you! I can assure you it's not intentional. I often step in only to answer specific questions, and it seems like you are usually already very familiar with how things work at HP. Our Mods don't take sides or pick on Hubbers, and they try to enforce the rules as fairly as possible, but we do make mistakes.
We value lots of different voices at HubPages; as a community of writers, it's particularly important that we do so, because we're such a diverse bunch (Staff as well as Hubbers). That said, we do tend to be more strict in the HubPages Forums in particular because it's one of the first places many new Hubbers go for help, and we want to make sure they receive clear, correct information as much as possible.
Please do send us an email, and hopefully we can sort out whether or not your posts were moderated by mistake, and if not, we can at least let you know more specifically what the issue was.
I do appreciate the feedback, thanks for taking the time.
13 hubs and you don't have a 1,000 views yet? What's up with that? I tweeted your stuffing hub for folks doing the Easter turkey thing. Meanwhile, I continue to try to live by the meme I posted elsewhere...
I just wanted to let you know that I looked into this personally, and it looks like your comment was indeed on topic and was deleted by mistake. It has been restored. My apologies!
Christy, I do so appreciate the effort you made, thanks. I hate that I made such a big deal about it, but I kind of felt like maybe I wasn't welcome at all, so I'm glad you clarified for me. Thank you again.
(My hub score fell from an 84 to an 81, but at this point, I'm just lucky my acct is still open. lol)
I think maybe the mod was just in a mood to do some deep spring cleaning that day. I had a couple of posts removed from that thread, too. In one post I advised the OP to move her post to the "advertising problems" forum so staff would see it, and in the other post I apologized because she pointed out that she had actually posted it in correct forum originally. Granted, my comments didn't add anything to that post that newbies would find helpful, other than a reminder to post their questions in the correct forum -- but there wasn't any pressing reason to delete them. Anyway, for whatever reason, I think perhaps the mod just felt doing some cleaning that day.
Did your score drop? You don't have to take it personally til your score drops. lol
My score has changed by one point but I'm not sure if it has gone up or down -- honestly I can't remember if it was 94 or 96 earlier this week. It is a bummer yours has gone down!
I can't believe there was ever a time when I had a score of 100. With all my hubs published, reporting spam, and my activity/deleted activity here, I can't even make it to 85. But as long as there are still starving children in the world, I wont shed any tears over it.
Thanks PS. I appreciate the support. Now run! Run into the night and take cover. Trust no one!
I suspect that there are those hubbers, the ones that begin half of their posts with “This is a serious topic that needs to be addressed seriously…” that punish violators that dare to post flippant comments, which might threaten to derail their solemn threads, with a flag for inappropriate/off topic posts.
… and they stood on our throats with a hobnailed boot.
Extremists everywhere. They are right about everything which automatically makes the other extremists wrong about everything? So everyone is wrong?
<snipped>
(I would have had to add commas so Grammerly would stop trying to edit my post, sheesh!)
Awesome post. It is good to see that someone around here read the memo.
So am I to understand that the Forum Nazis, those that pitch a fit whenever someone makes a joke or strays off topic, are flagging legitimate posts (yet ones that don't fit into their idea of the discussion) as spam???
What did colorful one say that got snipped? PM me; inquiring minds want to know.
Solaras, that is my dry humor. I realize that many people do not get my humor at times. Nothing was snipped from my comment m'dear. I was making an attempt though to joke around.
I have to improve my hubs and at joking around.
I laughed when I read that, and pictured Beth in a line with "someone" telling her
"No soup for you today...Next."
I have to laugh at the soup nazis--how else can I put up with them?
This reminds me of one of my favorite posts on one of my favorite threads from 2014. To paraphrase:
"I slowed down to look at the cats, but then there was some woman screaming "These" and I floored it, and got out of there." Mark Ewbie

I still think comments should be comments, not discussions, that is the purpose of a forum. Maybe it would be a good idea that every author has a forum automatically made in a widget on there profile page and the topics are always the title of the Hub. That way you can discuss it and always edit...

Who thinks we should ask to reinstate a page dedicated to locating hubbers by hubber score. Beginning with 100-0.We once had such a page here that made the hubber score much more relevant, and we could at least get a chance to locate the top hubbers who most definitely deserved high praise for...

PROBLEM: Whenever I write a hub on a controversial subject, a number of people create new, fake hub accounts solely for the purpose of posting negative comments and feedback on my hubs and/or threatening me anonymously. These new hubbers have 0 (zero) hubs and no other activity, and they are never...

I read both forum entries and answers/questions entries but the two features seem to overlap. Many of the questions asked in "answers" are technical questions asked by hubbers about HP. Some elicit long threads of answers just like in the forums. Since the "questions/answers"...
