I am screaming with frustration! Most of my hubs have been unfeatured due to lack of traffic. I write about gardening which no one wants to read about in the winter. Spring is coming so I want to get my hubs featured again, but every time I try to edit them, I either get an error ("something went wrong") or the page freezes and my changes aren't saved. This only seems to be happening to my hubs that are more than 3 years old. Is there a bug? Are we not allowed to edit older hubs? I've tried Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Edge. I'm so frustrated that I'm ready to leave hub pages after 8 years.
I've been having the same problem. I wrote to the team at HP and was advised to try unpublishing and then republishing one of the hubs. As a result, I know have a blank hub and no word back yet about what happened and if they can retrieve it. Another issue is, that hub was plagiarized, so if I lose my original publication date, so much for proving that's my original content.
On one of mine, I have been trying to edit for several months. When I go to edit mode, it shows up with the second half of the article at the top, and the beginning at the middle. If I try to edit any part of it It does not work. I cannot make changes. If I click "done editing" it does not revert to published. Preview doesn't work on it. If i just quit, and go back to it later it still looks normal on my list of hubs. I cannot make any changes to update it. (it's my Gettysburg Address hub, 2600 words). I can edit other hubs, but not this one.
I've not received any further follow-up from the HP team about my missing content or the error messages. Those error messages do say to contact the team or post about it in the forum.
I am ready to scream. I cannot even look at my page when it is open. It simply flips back to the account screen about 10 seconds after I open the page. This is ridiculous.
I saw this thread on my feed, and went to check it out.
I just pulled up an older, presently un-featured hub from 2011, and made a small edit by adding a text capsule and a few extra thoughts.
I had no problems at any point in the process. Everything displayed properly; edit mode worked fine, and it saved and appear with the changes.
Hopefully, this was a temporary glitch.
I have had this problem for a couple of months.
Unfortunately not. I'm still getting the same errors on the same hubs, and the one hub they advised I try unpublishing and then republishing is still blank. Clearing the cache doesn't help. Using a different browser doesn't help. And HP staff was seeing the same thing.
Last I heard from them last week, they were going to turn it over to the engineering team, but no word back yet.
A quick update. We pushed an update to the site which should fix several of the issues with the Hubtool that some of you are experiencing!
Sorry, but I am still having problems editing my hubs. Your fix didn't work for me.
I edited about five other hubs yesterday with no problems, but still can't get it to work with my Gettysburg hub.
OldRoses, can you please post a couple of links to Hubs you cannot edit and we'll take another look? Thanks!
Thanks. We tried to edit your Theme Garden Hub, and were able to make an Amazon Capsule full width as well as add a Text Capsule. Can you try editing your Hubs in a different browser and let us know if the problem persists? If it does, can you explain exactly what happens when you try to edit something?
I have tried Internet Explorer, Chrome, FireFox and Edge. I am unable to edit the text within the capsules nor am I able to add attribution to the photos. Either of one of two things happen: the changes won't save or the entire page freezes and I have to close my Hub Pages instance.
Marina, any luck on fixing this bug? The situation is getting critical for me. Fevruary through July are my top earning months. I must, must, must get my hubs active again.
Hi OldRoses, we cannot reproduce this bug, unfortunately. We've tried to edit your Hubs (in the way you described) and experienced no issues.
For the photo attribution not working, could this explain it? http://hubpages.com/community/forum/134 … -on-photos
The entire page freezing sounds like more like a bug/problem with your computer rather than the HubTool (especially since only a couple of people are reporting the problem). Do you have any browser extensions or plugins installed? These can certainly affect the way your browser and other websites behave. Just a thought.
For next steps, please make an edit (just one) to a text capsule inside one of your Hubs. Tell us exactly what happened (which Hub, the exact change you made, and what you saw afterwards). Feel free to post the information here, or email us. Whatever you prefer.
I hope that we can figure this out soon!
I have no add-ins in Internet Explorer and I get the same errors when I try to edit capsules. Three possible things happen when I try to edit:
1. I click on edit at the top of the capsule and nothing happens.
-OR-
2. I click on edit and the capsule floats to the top of the screen so that the top half is missing. When I try to edit, nothing happens, i.e. I am unable to delete, backspace or overwrite.
-OR-
3. I click on edit, make a change in the capsule and click on save. Nothing happens. I click on save a second time and the page grays out. At that point, I am unable to click on anything and have to close the entire tab.
These three things happen in Google, Chrome, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge. Since each one of those browsers has different add-ins, or in the case of IE and Edge, no add-ins, the problem is not my laptop.
Perhaps it's the OS? My laptop is Windows 10 Home Edition (up to date, all updates installed). Is HP compatible with Win10?
OK, thank you for the details. This is odd and we are still unable to reproduce these issues. Is there any chance you have access to a different computer? Have you already tested this on more than one computer?
Any news on this? If you are unable to reproduce the error, are you using the same OS as I am (Windows 10 Home Edition)? Are you using an account that DOES NOT have admin privileges? I am a sys admin and in my experience, when I have been unable to reproduce a problem that a user is having, it's because I have admin privileges. I have to use an account that doesn't have admin privileges to reproduce the problem.
No luck with reproducing, but we are still working on this. In the meantime, could you please send us some more information following these steps:
1. Using Chrome, open one of your Hubs that has this issue in the HubTool
2. Launch Chrome Developer Tools (to do this, click on the menu icon in the top right corner of Chrome --> More Tools --> Developer Tools)
3. Inside of Developer Tools, click on the Console tab
4. Scroll up and down in the console tab to see if there is anything in red/pink (these are errors). If you see errors, please take a screenshot of them and post them here.
Re the photos: the photos that I am trying to change the attribution to are my own, no links. When I try to add "author" (no quotes) to the Name of Attribution box, the change is not saved.
Following this because I also continue to have trouble editing hubs. For me, it seems to be link capsules that are the problem. I have a few broken links I'm trying to fix, but clicking on the link capsules not only bumps me up to the top of the hub but also renders the link capsule in a strange way that I can't edit ... if that makes sense.
Hi Ramkitten2000. We cannot reproduce your issue either. Please try what I suggested to OldRoses above: http://hubpages.com/forum/post/2796417
Thank you. Mine is now editable, edited and back in order.
I am having the same problem as Old Roses, plus the fact that appears with the capsules out of order (only in edit mode).
Mine is: http://hubpages.com/education/LincolnsGettysburgAddress
I would really like to update it since I think is one of my better hubs.
Hi Rochelle. We cannot reproduce your issue. Please try what I suggested to OldRoses above: http://hubpages.com/forum/post/2796417
No, I work from home so my laptop is my only computer but it looks like other hubbers are also having similar problems.
As far as we know, only one other Hubber (Ramkitten2000 above) is still experiencing the is problem. Have you done a malware scan on your computer?
I still can't edit some hubs. One example is "Fun Winter Activities in Flagstaff, Arizona." Same problem regardless of the browser, cache clearing, etc. And oddly enough, now the broken link--which I want to fix--is missing completely. That content appears to be gone. But when I click on the link capsule, I'm bumped to the top of the hub. When I scroll back down to where the link capsule is, it's being rendered oddly.
The broken link is missing because we removed it in the process of trying to reproduce these issues. Sorry for the confusion! I did find something odd with the link capsule but it is not quite what you described. Can you take a screenshot of the link capsule after it renders oddly?
All the content of the capsule is missing when I try to edit. And like other hubs that I haven't been able to edit, when I try to open the capsule I'm bumped back up to the top of the hub.
Thank you for the screenshot. I tried to edit the exact same link capsule and do not see this issue!
Do you happen to have access to a different computer?
Yep, I've tried it on my husband's computer. Same result, I'm afraid.
I can try to re-create that particular capsule and see if that works. I'll have to go back and find the other hubs where the same kind of thing is happening, although not always with link capsules. Other hubs, though ... no problem. Strange.
What OS is running on your husband's computer? And which browsers did you test?
His computer is still running Windows ... um Vista, I think. Mine is Windows 10. I've tried Firefox, Chrome and IE.

I opted in to Hub Pro and I just had my first edit. Nothing was changed except to remove three of my four amazon capsules and remove links to other websites that I included to provide supporting evidence for my claims. So I'm pretty proud that the editors didn't feel the need to change, or add,...

Today I noticed that when I click on the 'go right' arrow in Amazon capsules, it brings me to the top of the page and I have to scroll down to the capsule again to click on the 'go up' arrow to place it next to a text capsule. Is this a glitch/bug? I can't recall I had this problem earlier and...

Well, I downloaded it, it seems a whole lot faster, but not i cannot edit the capsules at all. It will not update the photographs or allow me to edit the text in paragraph form....if i save it, it goes to preformatted text, so now i have to go back to IE i guess. I have been here all...

A very kind soul noticed a month ago that I need to learn how to break up my text with photos or something between the paragraphs when my text is long. She explained how to do it. I tried and couldn't grasp it. Then I misplaced or accidentally deleted her email -- so I haven't...

A couple of weeks ago I became an Amazon affiliate. I had started an Amazon capsule and was trying to get a Search widget which now I think from my research reading that Hub Pages doesn't do widgets and that is fine with me.During my naive attempt I got the message "No Amazon Products...
