Ha! Got a niche site hub outranking wikiHow. Yes I do. Who else is doing good?
I had six of my hubs moved to a new niche site this week-end. Too early to know how they are doing yet but everything appear to be working well, including Pinterest etc., .............. so looking good.
Pinterest is indeed a major player. I started a thread about that, but it got shunted, http://hubpages.com/technology/forum/13 … -me-emails
I see they've created feltmagnet.com - I must have missed the announcement.
Yes, my niche site hubs are also doing better than they were on the main site.
I was just on Goog searching for 'coriander or cilantro' and I noticed that a Delishably hub by Gord Hamilton is top of stack.
That's very good. Hubpages always had talented writers but they've been bogged down by spam and nonsense akin to a content farm. These niche sites if done right could allow those authors and writers to shine.
On what search term? And how many search terms is it out ranking wikihow on?
"Aroused Porcupine Mines of Nevada - The Untold Story"
bit long winded for a human to actually type in them exact words....
Not really... Just typed that in two days ago and was surprised to find a HP niche site ranking up there. That was the first time I entered a niche site via Google.
Not a problem, porcupines are the target audience.
So, if I use ONE WORD that being "porcupines" on search engine sites, will your page be displayed above wikihow, and the thousands of other sites?
which I am....lol
good thread mate.
Guessing hubpages is a waste of time.
Hey. I just started on hubpages, and I don't understand what you guys are talking about ..why are people's hubs being moved? Why could hubpages be a "waste of time"?
HubPages has started a network of websites that are focused on different topics. For instance, "pets," "travel," "health," etc. The very best hubs are moved to those sites, which are being called "niche" sites. This is done to help boost readership and thus cash. By only including the best of the best hubs, Google will rank these niche sites higher, thus bringing in more traffic. I hope that makes sense.
As for HP being a "waste of time," that will depend on the user. I certainly don't find it so. I do very well here.
Oh, okay. Thanks so much for taking the time to explain and in such great detail! I really appreciate it : )
I got one put on Reel Rundown. I hope it does just as well there. A lot of the anime hubs got moved there.
Perhaps the will just tell us via newsletter from here on out. That would be my guess.
I just went to look at feltmagnet's home page (so that's where they're putting "photography"...).
(Can't resist sharing this, although maybe the newest people on here won't see the joke.) Anyway, I couldn't really read the categories well (not HP's fault, my screen's) and when I saw "Sculpture" I thought for a couple of seconds that it was "Scripture". I thought (appropriately enough, maybe; and much to my horror), "OMG!!!! They're moving all the religious stuff over here!!!!! WHY ON EARTH.....). It's amazing how many visions of tons of junk from the religious forums, or religious arguments on religious Hubs, one can have in a couple of seconds.
I've got two theories as to why HP didn't announce the latest niche site.
A. They're tired of our bitching and moaning.
B. Rampant theft problems.
Probably a combination of both.
4 sites (so far) moved over to the new spinditty site (music)...
I feel a little tingle inside !
How do I know if mine have been moved and more importantly where to. I have a few Hubpro symbols and snipped symbols. Thanks
Have a look on your "My Account" page. Under "Filters" - "Select a site". The drop down menu shows you which hubs are placed on which sites.
I dont seem to have 'select a site in any of my filter dropdowns . Thanks
In addition to what Judi says, you also receive an email.
Had snipping emails but none about them being moved. I guess they havent been moved.
Well no matter how well written, popular, exciting or whatever my articles are nothing on the site with the idiotic name...Felt Ma..something will never ever do well!
What is your problem with feltmagnet? Every post of yours recently has been bashing it. Most people are not even going to look at the domain name...
The name does not fit with the topics. If I have an issue with the name that's my problem. Don't like it ? Don't read them.
Very few people will visit a photo site with that name rather than another with a more "photo or visual" sounding one. Visual arts do not fit or rather belong next to articles on how to cut plywood at Home Depot for example like some that are there.
Say it once or twice then not on every niche site thread like a troll. Some times I wish we could block people on these forums.
Thread lightly before you call someone a troll. Censure yourself if it bothers you. That's how I feel about the name, period.
Yeah it's not a personal attack or anything. I do like your other posts. Just put yourself in the teams place. The decision is made and nothing can be done about it now. It definitely isn't something I would want to see again and again especially on a thread which is a positive view of the niche sites If I were working at HP.
You are more than likely correct and I am sorry if I got all worked up. I just really hate the name. But as others have said lets give it time and see where it leads.
They were already on a site with those articles before any of them got moved. They were already on a site with a name unrelated to their subject.
FeltMagnet seems to be doing fine in my book.
It is great for your since many of your articles deal with felt. Good luck with it. Hope it works out
PetHelpful is doing great from my standpoint. Case in point. I have been on HubPages for 3.75 years. In that time, I have had just over 9,000 views from HubPages itself. Since PetHelpful went live just a while back (2-3 months ago?), I have already had over 2,700 views from it. At this rate, in one year, I will have garnered almost many views from my selected hubs at PetHelpful as I did from all of my Hubs on HubPages in four years. Pretty good!!
I am guessing that since only the best articles are chosen for the niche sites, people are enjoying browsing the site. They won't run into a lot of bad articles, making them leave. Instead, they are staying and reading.
Also, since having many (but not all) of my Hubs moved to PetHelpful, my overall views have gone up by 1/4 - in just two or three months!! I had one article on PetHelpful go what I consider "viral" (60,000 views in a few days). It went viral with no marketing on my part. I know "viral" is a subjective word, and some would consider 60,000 to miss their idea of viral by quite a bit.
I am hoping HubPages is seeing these kind of numbers over all of their niche sites. They deserve to be recompensed for all of their hard work.
Niche sites have brought my traffic back up a little. Anything that helps I'm all for.
Well most of my hubs that were moved to niche sites has tripled in traffic! I hope it continues...
I have two hubs on two seperate niche sites so far..DenGarden and PetHelpful..and they have both started to increase in traffic. One is now my top traffic hub and the other has constant red arrows, so can't complain.
I'd do a happy dance, but I don't want to jinx the traffic increase.
I have one article on a niche site so far and I didn't receive an email about - found it by accident when I was taking a look at it.
My article is on ReelRundown which is still relatively new so I don't expect traffic to pick up much for a little while yet.
Hi. How did it identify as on a niche site please and how did you know the new url? Thanks
I had two of my recipes moved to niche, I just started and I thought they had unpublished them! Hehe, had to do some research to figure it out, was so excited! I really love this site!
Just thought that I should add, that one of my hubs on the niche sites is now showing on the Google Knowledge Graph too For a particular keyword, which I will not mention.
How nice for you to be recognized by Google as an authority!
Well a small tip: Use Tables and Lists on your hubs that are doing well. That should get you onto the knowledge graph (a possibility). But definitely worth a shot. See what kind of list or table the current site ranking has and make something better. I am going to try this out myself on another hub, would be nice to have others try it out as well.
The first one was natural, I didn't add anything with the intention of getting on the knowledge graph.
I hadn't heard of that, thanks for mentioning it.
For others who haven't heard of it, I found this: https://www.google.com/intl/es419/insid … ledge.html The short video there explains all.
This is the first time I visited here. I am new to Hub Pages and totally lost. Have submitted articles for years but Hub Pages frustrates me. I can not figure out what to do. All the comments were helpful.
Thanks
Go to The Learning Center and start reading. It takes a while to get adjusted.
I started on HubPages a couple weeks ago. I've published a total of four hubs and two have been moved - one to FeltMagnet and the other to DenGarden.
So I guess that means I might know what I'm doing?
When it first happened, I just assumed it was a grab to keep you interested, like those poetry sites that publish your work so you buy the book, even if your poetry is garbage, haha.
Congratulations! You must be doing something right. Welcome to Hubpages.
So far: Delishably (2), ReelDown (1), KindredBond (1), LetterPile (1)
I gotta tell ya... The niche site traffic is truly a thing of beauty. HubPages is back in business.
I do believe you are right - the wait was tedious but worthwhile.
I hope this brings some of the writers back. Having strong niche sites with plenty of really good articles would only increase traffic across the board.
In my particular case, no I don't think at least to my knowledge that I am on any of the niche sites. However, perhaps I am, and I don't know it. It is fine since I really don't care. I just like writing whatever I am interested in, 'ya know?

I just saw an announcement from Christy Kirwan to say they're not going to be launching any more new sites. http://hubpages.com/community/forum/137 … ost2832990So that means if you've got Hubs that don't fit in one of the existing niche sites, they're not going anywhere.Sad for me as...

Yes, everybody thinks their favorite topic area deserves its own niche site. But in the case of "History" I think there really are some very valid reasons why this is so. History differs from many other topic areas in that searchers are often really researchers. They don't just jump on...

I just read on another thread that we must add the niche sites to our AdSense account. I don't know anything about this and don't know how to do it. Could someone please give step-by-step directions on how to get this accomplished? I don't remember hearing about this when the niche sites started....

I know a lot of you are curious about how the niche sites are doing. Recently, 21 of my articles were moved over. Some were edited, some were not. Most did not have ads, but of the ones that did, some were left in place, others were converted to in text links to products.I've been...
