Some things must have changed since I last created a hub (2009!) but I am having trouble posting a simple link within my hubs.
What I'm doing is highlighting the text, then selecting the 'link' icon in the edit box, and entering the URL.
However, I'm not understanding the process from this point on. There's a checkbox for selecting if this link is 'part of an affiliate link, a paid link, or a link to untrusted content'. I've tried selecting that, and also NOT selecting that checkbox, but either way, when I select Save, nothing seems to happen (the popup doesn't close). and the link doesn't work!
What am I doing wrong?!
Correct on the highlighting the text you wish to make into the link. Then select the Insert/Edit Link icon. This will bring up the Insert/Edit Link box. Along the top is an empty box with Url above it. Into this box copy the link you wish to use. Choose the Save button. The words should now be blue in color. In the upper right hand corner chose the save box. When the windows comes back up click on the link and it should bring the page up that the link goes to. When I selected the check box it made the color change but would not take me to the selected link.
A few standard things I do when I have issues with different web sites. One, clean out the junk files on your browser. Two, try a different browser. I am currently using Firefox. Three, try a different computer.
To be honest I don't think its you doing something wrong. I hope that this helps. Or at least gets you moving in the right direction.
Thanks, Paig Sr, and that is exactly the procedure I'm going through. So, I tried it in Edge, or whatever their calling IE these days, and it's doing the exact same thing. I used to use Firefox, but just got so tired of their constant updates, I'm using Chrome most of the time now.
After I create/edit the link, save it, and even select 'Done editing', I try the link, and it takes me to this page every time:
http://hubpages.com/#mce_temp_url%23
I have no clue as to why this is happening!
Yes I did notice that on the http://hubpages.com/business/Using-Twit … r-Business hub. Your other hubs are fine. There are some other things to try.
1) Leave the current link there. Type in Twitter again and create the link again. Follow the same steps as listed above and see what comes up.
2) The next thing I would try is to delete that link and then save the change and save the hub. Then edit again and create the link again. This time make sure that the check box is not marked.
3) I also set up a Twitter link in the first section of one of my hubs and the link worked correctly. The next thing to try is creating this link in another portion of this hub to see if it does the same thing there or if it works correctly. If it works there then it may be the the section not the hub that is at issue.
4) If # 3 works then "Insert Capsule" after the first non-working text module and recreate the main information. Type it in don't copy and paste. Then try the Twitter link in this module. Save to make sure everything looks and works correctly. If so you should be able to remove the non working module. Attaching the photo should be easy. And just because... test after doing so.
I'm having the same problem and it's really annoying. It's like the link box isn't saving properly. Didn't it use to give you the option to test the link. Now I put the link in the box and hit save and nothing happens. When I "x" out of it, it looks like the link worked but it didn't. It gives me the "temp url" link. Does anyone have any more information on this?
