My niece is a junior in high school. She goes to a private school and her program is photography. Her portfolio is amazing. I am really impressed with her talent. I really like using original photos, and I thought I might hire her to take some for me. The problem is that I don't know what something like this costs, so I don't know what to offer her. Any ideas how much money would be fair to offer her for sets of pictures?
If you are asking for non-exclusive use of the pictures and you are not inconveniencing her too greatly it could be a token payment per picture (1-2 dollars). However you might find that a person who can take great art photos of subject of their choice, are not always so good at taking content photos for clients.
I would ask her how much she charges for photography, and since she's family, maybe offer her a little bit more since younger people just starting out in creative fields tend to undervalue their own talents and undercharge.
