paul, yesterday i tried to signup one more account as a referral under my current account by using my new url tracker as http://hubpages.com/_Babes
but after the signup it was n't credited as a referral under my account..even with default tracker http://hubpages.com/_2wyr2ec5d1m5h also things didn't changed..

can you tell in detail how does the traffic referral system works in detail?

i put my url tracker in one of my hubs address and tried to check if the signup comes under my account ,i saw no positive results and every time the signups are crediting to hubpages only...is there any problem in the system?..

generally if i refer traffic to any hub with my tracker signup done in how much time 'll be credited under my account ??

don't mind if i repeated same lines ,but plz tell referral system details in full,paul..smile

Signup and hub statistics for URL Trackers are processed every 20 minutes or so.  They are not be updated immediately when the account is created.

Also, if the user has clicked on another link with a tracker in the previous 2 hours, the tracker in your link will be ignored.

does the tracker does n't work even if the hub, the user clicked before is different from the current clicked hub with a tracker in it??

      1. The page (or hub) you link to makes no difference as far as the tracking goes.  You can link to almost anywhere on HubPages, you don't have to limit yourself to your own Hubs.

      2. When a user clicks on a link with a tracker in it:

        - if they don't have a tracker already we set one that will last for up to 30 days.

        - If they have a tracker already:
            a. if it was set within the last 2 hours, we do nothing.
            b. otherwise, we replace the old tracker with the new one.

      3. The tracker stats on your user profile page are updated every 20 minutes, they won't reflect new sign ups or hubs created immediately.

      4. If you have multiple HubPages accounts, please don't try and refer your new account from your old account.  We reserve the right to remove self-referrals.

I was wondering, would the same apply to this page: http://hubpages.com/help/press-release-2007-05-07

If I put my referral tracker ID in there will it work the same as referring to hubs? http://hubpages.com/_1pk0ue4rz5p3q/help … 2007-05-07

ok just so I see if I understand this clearly, the signup referral credit is completly indepent of the page referred, and the tracker is good for up to 30 days, so if for example I refer someone to any hub at all and its their first time on this site, if they happen to signup in 30 days time , I get the credit correct? (or is this only valid for 2 hours ), also as along as I don't self refer can I create diferent accounts for myself (you know like a writers alias it would help me to keep my work organized by themed accounts smile )

Sorry for the delayed reponse, I just got back from a short vacation.

Yes, the tracker is good for up to 30 days, but only protected from replacement with a different tracker for 2 hours.  So, if they click your link then come back 29 days later and sign up, you should get credit as long as they haven't clicked another trackered link (or cleared their cookies).

Yes, you can have multiple accounts at HubPages.  In fact, if you're writing a significant number of hubs on several unrelated topics, it is probably a good idea.  However, you don't want to end up with 15 personas with 2-3 hubs each.  Each additional quality hub you create will increase the visibility to all of your hubs (within an account).
