    Question

I have had a problem with this in the past.  Make sure you link is still leading back to you.

Just because you send people to a sign-up page doesn't mean they're going to sign up.  And if they do sign-up it doesn't mean they are going to write any Hubs.  And if they make Hubs, there's no guarantee that those are going to be quality, high-traffic Hubs.

If you're seeing traffic coming through the referral links, it means the trackers are working, however, getting conversions to quality sign-ups involves much more than just a traffic flow.

May be but two of my referrals shown in my account tab did not published a single hub in their life....  then, Why hubpages is showing them in my referrals list?

I think they did some quality work of not publishing anything big_smile

Any account signup that comes through your trackers, whether they ever write or not, will be shown on your referral list.

I searched HP but could not find an answer to the question, "where do you add your tracker code in the new profile URL?" I know it used to go after hubpages.com and before /profile. The old profile URL still works with my code but it's long and clunky. Does anyone know where to place it within the new profile URL?

    Thanks! smile

Multiman - I know we both have been seeking the answer to this question for some time now. If no one from the HubTeam posts a reply I guess we can assume that our trackers won't work with the new profile url. In the meantime, I'm using the old url to set my tracker. I sure would like to sign up some new Hubbers.

Guess they do not want anyone to get sign ups that way using your profile page to send them to the sign up page.  Oh Well.

I've pretty much packed it in as far as referrals go. But that's just me. Though every once in awhile I give it another shot just to torture myself.  smile

I would like to know the answer to this question, too.

I wonder if someone from Hubpages could answer us. Otherwise, we're just guessing.

    Thanks.

I think I've got an answer. I'm just not sure about the question. I got my first sign-up three days ago. That confirms that something's working. Since I have more than one tracker, I can tell that he signed up after being referred to another hub (almost certainly someone else's, because he picked up my tracker in an orphan hub).

I always place the tracker as .com/_TRACKER/xyz. For xyz, I have never used profile. (Someone please tell me why I should; I'm missing something.) Rather I send people to hub, topic, user/new, mainly.

I use my profile link as part of my email signature. As far as I know, you can't link words to a site within a signature, otherwise I'd link the words "read my articles on Hubpages" to my profile's long url. (You can still use it with your tracker inserted).  Email can be a powerful way to introduce people to Hubpages and of course, your hubs.

The trackers have always worked for hubs. As you demonstrated the tracker is placed right before the /xyz or /user/new or /hub.

Before the url change profile also occupied that position followed by your user name. Now, with our short url, the word profile does not exist.

I'm wondering if I can shorten my long profile url with tinyurl?

I use Vista's "Mail" for email and I am able to hyperlink to text. What mail program are you using, Green Lotus? I can append my tracker to my new domain, which then takes a reader to my profile page. I don't have any proof that the tracker does anything positive in that case, but I'm not sure it would be needed, since I am both the referrer and the referee. As for shortening the url, I see that you have already created a 3-character tracker.

E-mail signatures--I've done it 2-3 times but should more often. And that reminds me that many folks refer readers to their profile page in a copyright line.

I am able to add a link to my gmail signature, but apple mail does not have that feature sad......at least I haven't been able to work around it as there is no wysiwyg edit box.
