How do hubbers feel about a hub award?

I know we have hub milestones which are great. How would everyone feel if there was a hub award, where people can nominate and vote on their favourite hub of the day/week/month?

I'll say it again, I think it sounds line an interesting idea and a way to get more hubbers engaged in other hubs rather than just the forums.  If it happens though, I hope we can avoid all the "vote for my hub" threads wink

Didn't someone try to do this previously, and it just dried up from lack of participation after a huge debate about how it was just a popularity contest for a clique?

And how would it be different from voting for HubNuggets?

And I'll second the "PLESE no 'vote for my hub' threads" concept.  Things are bad enough in the forums already.

In that instance i would suggest you can not vote for or nominate  your own hub and you can not post vote for me threads. Maybe some kind of reason why you are voting for the hub? Content, subject, languge or style?

Sounds great, but who will moderate the thread to keep in such the manner you are suggesting?

Actually, there is already buttons on your hubs to rate them up or down and if you are using them on the hubs you read and not your own hubs then you are doing the community a service.  The virtual award would only go to the top hubs in each category.  So there would be no need to do self promotion in the forums.

I'm too busy making hubs to want to stop and enter them into awards.

My rewards come in the form of Search Engine traffic.

Agree with Darkside on this one.  If a Hub is good, it will move up the search engines and people will read it.

I think it would be a bad idea as it would defeat what Hubpages is all about. I get my award from Adsense and that is what really matters. I have seen it even in the Hubnuggets people promoting for your vote on their profile etc.

Even the daft medals for 100 hubs, 10,000 views are stupid. In all honesty they are useless and only serve to fuel someones vanity because they mean nothing to me. If you want a Hub Award right the best hub and send it to a 100 hubscore and the Number 1 on hubpages, now that my friend does get you both credit for your hub but also extra traffic and increased earnings !
