Today, I got an email telling me that I have a new fan.
When I checked, it was a photo of an absurd, anonymous woman.
It is SO obviously a plant by your "marketing" department.
And there is not "contact" link for me to complain to the management.
I do not want phony fans.
I do not do business with liars.
And WHY are you so afraid to get a message from little old me?
If I get one more of these false "fan" messages, I will delete my account, PERMANENTLY.
Why didn't your parents teach you to be honest, ethical people?
OMFG...Not THAT!...after only 4 days...
psst...you can put links in your profile...
and PS...Hubpages is all about half naked Indian chicks...they are always featured on the frontpage...so if one fans you...Hubpages is all about you...
You've been here 5 minutes, obviously know NOTHING about hubpages. It's clear that you haven't taken the trouble to even read up on the basics of how this site works.
The accusations you have made, and the conclusions you have drawn are ridiculous rubbish.
Bye. I think that HubPages will be better off without you.
In fact, I'll even become your fan to hasten the process.
(Heaven knows what you'll make of MY avatar
Damn you...I wish I had thought of that...first...imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...
Sorry, guy, but I looked at your page...and your fan is just an Indian hubber using a fake 'pretty woman' avatar. A real person, no doubt, but DBA with hopes of making more $$$. It's called advertising or public relations--or an approximation of it, here, on the part of a singular hubber.
So no need to get your shorts in a bunch.
So true. This pic is used as an avatar for another hubber too. Wouldn't worry about it.
Chill out buddy! So she/he isn't ethical because they use a picture of a pretty girl as their avatar? Are you really a black and white abstract shape?
FYI: I've been on HubPages for almost three years, and the only fans I've gotten were Hubbers, themselves, who (for any variety of reasons not necessarily always related to their liking my work) decided to fan me. Once in a while some non-Hubber (e.mail via HubPages but noted as "unverified" by HubPages) will send an e.mail with a message. HubPages isn't sending people phony fans. Because you got one "iffy-looking" fan (probably as a result of signing up a few days ago) it was a pretty big jump you made in assuming HubPages administration was at the root of it.
If you had waited long enough to know where you can find e.mail contact information for HubPages before posting this accusatory thread, you might have discovered that there is a way to e.mail staff. You have no idea how ridiculous your post looks to those of us who have been here for a while. Oh well. Don't worry about it. Chances are people who see this embarrassing thread will overlook it because you're new.
No Lisa, they may not even see it at all.
Because if he or she is a person of their word, they'll now delete their account because they will have received another 2 messages about new fans: whiteteeth and myself.
It's not an ad as in advertisement. AD probably stands for Another inDian fan spammer!!!
Eric, I hope he doesn't delete his account. We all need him to "explain the news" to us. (Maybe some people think that just because that Tom guy becomes the friend of every new MySpace person that's how all sites operate. Pat may not realize HubPages and MySpace aren't the same kind of sites. Oh wait, I'm making up stuff without really knowing if that's the reason for Pat's nasty thread. It's never to smart to do that.)
(Normally, and like most people on here, I aim to be a little friendlier to new Hubbers; but the particularly ignorant, arrogant, and attacking approach used in this thread is just a real "button-pusher". I'd like to "explain" that the same concern could have raised on here in a more reasonable, appropriate, way. The next time Pat joins a new site s/he may like to consider posting a thread, "Hi. I'm new here. So, how do you folks like this site?")
Hi Lisa,
If this thread is any indication of the research puts into their news explanations, then I wouldn't be taking much notice of them.
I agree with your points about new hubbers, and practise them myself.
But I reckon that the sheer arrogance and aggressiveness shown by this person warrants the comments I made.
Cheers, Eric G.
Agreed, Eric. I hope you didn't think I was thinking of your remarks when I posted. It was my own I was addressing. I was just kind of surprised that even the usually-polite-and-reasonable me was "inspired" to take an edgier tone on this thread. I was glad to see I wasn't the only one "set off" by the attitude.
*giggle* I am very talented red horse in a purple hat. It is so hard to type in these horse shoes.
You've got it easy. My fingers are so thin and bony they get stuck in between the keys on my keyboard.
I hope he sticks around, we need one more person who will want to tell us that we are all stupid. Actually, reading his hubs he might be what we need to combat some of the posters on here.
If you read this. If you click on help which is on the top right hand side of every page there is a link where you can contact HubPages.

It would seem that HubPages frowns upon the ongoing interaction within my popular thread, and I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this sort of trend within their own threads? The responses are relevant, engaging, and ongoing; so is this HubPages trying to say, indirectly, that it is time to...

"Welcome to the Hubpages! I'm looking forward to reading more of your material!"And they seem to be on a famming run using that same message for each person they've fanned.

I am starting to wonder about a lot of the questions that are asked. I'm talking about the ones that are listed in the Answers area. They appear to be from people who have new accounts for the purpose of asking questions.I personally do not mind, as most of those questions are easy to...

I've been here almost 3 yrs and would like an honest evaluation of some of my hubs. I'm concerned about my low hubscore. I continually study hubs at the learning center, participate in forums, comment on hubs, re-title and revise hubs, and have reached over 300,000 page views. I...

Since Vector7 has apparently succeeded in creating a forum thread forbidding anyone who wishes to disagree with the topic to post--some posts have been removed already-- i thought I'd try and do the same here. Here's his thread: ...
