Hi, all,
For the life of me I cannot figure out how to add my "orphaned" hubs to groups and/or categories. The Help doesn't include anything about this. Can you tell me how it's done in a clear, step-by-step procedure? I'm easily confused! ;o)
Thanks,
Ellen
Have you ever seen at the bottom of a hub links to the hubber's other hubs, one on the left with an arrow and one on the right? Those are created automatically by groups.
There are a couple of ways to create groups. Go to My Account, and in the menu in the grey box above, select Groups. On the left you should see a button "Add New Group".
Once you've added your groups, you should see the groups listed on the left and the right, as well as your orphaned hubs. Just click and drag to add them to a particular group and then "Save Changes".
As you're creating new hubs, however, you can add them to groups as well. When you're in your hub in Edit mode, you should see 3 tabs at the top: 'Settings' 'Summary Text' and 'Group'. Just select 'Group' and choose the group you want to add it to from the dropdown box.
You go here
http://hubpages.com/my/groups
and just drag the orphaned ones into the category you want them to be added to. And remember to save the changes.
What do you do to get those groups showing on your hub list page? I have all my hubs categorized and grouped, no orphans, but they don't show in groups on my profile page. Is there a certain number of hubs one has to publish before they show that way?
Groups are to help you organise your Hubs and also to create those arrow links at the bottom of your Hubs. They don't show on your profile page.
Categories are a separate thing - you're asked to categorize your Hub when you create it, or you can do it while you're editing your Hub. Categories are used to group your Hubs on your profile page. Are you sure you put your Hubs in categories?
And the categories only show up on your profile page when you have written at least 15 hubs.
Marisa, it says they're all categorized (I didn't think you could continue from that step without doing so anyway, so I always do :-)
Maybe I just don't have enough yet though it seems some others have categories showing without dozens of hubs. Don't know.
Just saw Uninvited Writer's response, thank you. I wondered if that might have something to do with it. Not too far off then.
And the categories only show up on your profile page when you have written at least 15 hubs.

I established Groups and moved my existing (completed) hubs into appropriate groups. I understand that some of my hubs will show at the bottom of the screen for a hub from the same group. However, I believe that categorizing hubs into groups with the same or similar theme/overall topic ON THE...

It would be useful to be able to sort our hubs into categories on the profile page. This would make it easier for readers to see what else is available in subjects that interest them, and also remind writers to work on a niche. I think the option was available on the old profile page - was it...

I have a lot of hubs, and choosing which ones to place on the carousel is difficult, especially since it is in alphabetical order. Is there any way to include choices like groups or topics like the stats page has, so that it is easier to find the hubs once I decide what I want to feature?...

I have repeatedly assigned my hubs to groups such as Poetry, Short Stories and As I See It (for essays and articles). However, on my profile page my hubs are randomly listed under the the two Headings "Poetry" and "Entertainment and Media" or some such. When I "Save" my...
