      Hi, long time no see.
All you do is put image tags around the URL to the graphic. ie

      [img]full link to image[/img]

you can click on the "formatting tips" link at the bottom of the reply window for more info

      cheers,
      Eric G.

Eric is right...If you want to post, let's say a jpg. image from Google Images, just copy the url and past it onto a post in between [img][/img].

However, if you want to post your own pic from let's say from a digital camera (I had a problem doing this too) it's a bit more difficult.  I'm not sure what others are doing, but the way I did this was open a photobucket account, upload my pic from my SD card and then copy and pasted here.

      Hope that helps smile

What you just described is called "hotlinking" and it's a very-much frowned upon practice.  You wind up stealing someone else's bandwidth to host your photo and that's bad web practices.

        1. Pearldiver profile image69
Pearldiverposted 15 years agoin reply to this

Thanks for that Relache... now I know not to do this (but I like using my own pics anyway).... I'll hopefully have this sorted with Eric via a relatively new system called "carrierlinking"

That's true, and the other downside is that who ever is hosting that image can remove it or change it to something else anytime they want.

The best thing is to use one of the free photo hosting services, or you can even upload the image to an unpublished hub and use that URL.

Oh that's great Paul ... Thanks for that.  I know quite a few others probably weren't aware of this either. Much appreciated.

OMG Eric & Eric... Hi mate

I don't know what you mean (Blond You Know yikes)

What is an image tag?  I use my own photos also, is that a prob or is it just the Blond bit?

Sorry.... If you ask me to troubleshoot a multi zillion dollar biz... I will guarrantee a cost saving of at least 7.5%.. but this easy stuff is in my too hard bin Eric........ (so embarassed) yikes

Oh, sorry - didn't realize you wanted the corporate version.

If you send over 2 first class return tickets from Hobart to your nearest airport, (for my P.A. and I) for a fee of $A5,000 I shall come to bumbletown and provide training for you, your staff, together with a very pretty multicoloured document that has plenty of coloured dots and arrows.

      Cheers,
      Eric G...

(But basically, you've got to put photo onto the internet somewhere, so that you can see it by putting a link to it in a browser.
Then in your Hubpages post, you have to put [img]on front of the link address, and[/img] after the link address.

And then, by the wonderful magic of the interwebz, the hubbers will be able to see your photo.

(If you want to email me the photo, I'll put it somewhere and send you the link.)

      Eric G.

Eric already answered , took me a couple of tries, youll get it.

1, When you have the pic you want , right click on the pic ,for 'properties' this is the jpg.file you need' then follow the steps in formatting tips (this page)

Once done it should all look like this

type [img]enclose copied file from properties here (your pic) then, type this to close[/img]

I usually hit preview to make sure I got it right wink

    Good luck Kiwi

  4. Pearldiver profile image69
    Pearldiverposted 15 years ago

Impossible......... I just can not download my own pic.  I rt click on properties - yes it's jpg but when I go to copy - nothing .... I can't copy & paste.  It just doesn't work!

dohn has said open a photobucket account.. would that mean sharing my pics with that site?

OMG I Hate this.... I need to go back to primary school again hmm

Go to Photobucket.com , make an account, upload the images from your computer, copy the url.

Come here to hubpages forums with the url paste it and put the [img][ /img] tags.
