Does it really bother you that I don't post my pic?

   Since I really hate to see my own face everytime I post, I have been switching avatars constantly as a kind of entertainment and enjoy finding new fantasy pics to post.  But I notice that people often say on the forums that they are annoyed by people not posting their own pics and that they somehow think less of some people because of this. 
   
   As though we are sort of cowardly or trying to hide something! If I actually posted my current image for very long I am sure you would all beg me to go back to the fantasy avatars.  Anyway, I'm not gonna change just because people are annoyed, but you can vent here about it, if it is that important!

   I love to check in every morning to see what your avatar is for the day.  You've some pretty beautiful ones....like today's.  I love it!  To heel with those who need to see your real face...isn't it for the writing that we're here to read?  This isn't a dating service...or so I thought!    And, the forums, for some fun???

   Hm, I could be wrong, as I have seen people get annoyed by others not having their own photos up. Meaning though, they are annoyed that people put fake sexy men or fake women as their icon as if to imply they are that individual when they are not.
   
   I have no problem with people having avatars like you have! It's nice. Photo or not, this place is a writing community and not a dating site so I think any icon is fair game and fun save for situation mentioned above. ^_^  I like yours!

      I think they want everyone to put their real pics up because it builds "trust" or something like that.  I have to say, I don't get where they're coming from at all.  In fact, I find it really irritating. 
      
      I couldn't care less what someone uses as their avatar (although it does annoy me a bit when someone uses a picture of a young woman with huge boobs, when you know perfectly well that the hubber in question is probably middle-aged and male).  In fact, it's nice to see people use their creativity when it comes to avatars...brightens the place up a bit.

   Nah, although it would be nice.  It makes the reader feel like it is a "real" person and is more personable.

       I leave mine the same, never changing, for several reasons:
       
       1.  I'm lazy.
       
       2.  It's recognizable--folks know instantly it's me.  Which could be bad, but I choose to assume that on balance it's a good thing.
       
       3.  That snapshot of me seems (to me, anyway) to project an image of myself I like on many levels.  Figure, if it works, don't fix it.

    I like pictures and avatars.  Both tell something about the person.  When people constantly change their avatar, you learn what they like.  What draws and pulls them.

    Btw. I do want to add that posting your own pic can have it's own limitations too....in my case, I've had to deal with some of the most ridiculous 'fan' mail too....and am often tempted to change it to an anonymous avatar!

    anyway, sorry i didn't respond to the forums original question earlier, but i don't think it matter realistically anyway if a person chooses to use their real faces or not on hubpages.  i like you mega tend to like having switch avatars frequently as it's kind of fun to be honest.  therefore, i wouldn't complain as some people are just idiots.

    I never mind when someone doesn't post their picture as long as their avatar shows something.  I am more apt to ignore hubs written by authors that don't put anything at all in their avatar, but I have no problem with displaying something other than the writer's photograph.
