I think it is a great hobby, if you are looking to get rich doing this, you will be sadly disappointed. If you do it for fun, you will have a great time.
Cogerson is right, it's great to help develop writing skills, learn some stuff about internet marketing, or even just for fun, but when looking at the time aspect of Hubpages, it is DEFINITELY not worth doing if you want money only. I'm glad I did it to learn because I'd be really angry by now, seeing that I haven't even reached the threshold for the first check So I've essentially earned nothing...pretty awesome
it ended up being worth it because now I'm a beachbody coach because of it - so it all turned out well
I find HubPages fun. It's the first place that I feel comfortable with being a freelance writer and finding new things to write about. I've been at Examiner.com, Associated Content, and Suite 101, trying to gain an audience, and I'm not going to lie, make a decent amount of money, but that is hard. But here at HubPages, I am starting to build up a nice following and don't even care about making money! Writing is something that I love doing and this is a good place to hone my voice in multiple disciplines.
HubPages is great fun! It's one of the better writing sites I've worked with simply because it's the most user friendly. No Internet writing sites are places to get rich quick. They serve more as hobby sites, as Cogerson suggests. They provide instant gratification for writers who want to be published, first and foremost, and who want to share their viewpoints.
HP is fantastic. It is a great way to improve your writing skills and get your work out there. The people are great and the forums and learning centre are a great way to learn the ropes. Everyone is helpful and friendly here. Sadly I haven't made much in the way of dollars, but have grown in confidence and made some great friends.
HUBPAGES is the best online community of kind hearted, awesome intellectuals who offer help in a wide range of topics.
It even has a forum for discussions.
Glad i found HP and am enjoying every bit of it.
Bless you all hubbers
I really like HubPages and I'm a living example that you can actually learn something from this site. Of course, there are things which could be improved, but then again, almost everything in the world could be better than it is )

It looks like a fourth of my feed lately is comprised of new people wanting the rest of us to tell them how to write. All day I get request after request for help on passing the Quality Assessment. I mean Really? Many of your requests are just one step above being a jumble of mis-spelled words...

I have written over 140 hubs....most are on the same subject....so it makes it very hard to find a specific hub in that subject. My idea to solve this issue was to create a link hub so people would be able to find my hubs. After doing the following...

Right now I don't care about my grammer or bla bla bla. After writing 20 hubs I get single digit views this is just non-sense bcos my youtube get more than 10000 views with just 6-7 videos and earn dollars per day. This site is no where near google and just says the writers to improve or get banned...
