What makes you hit the follow button?
I normally have to see a great passion in writing. Followed by originality and activity.
I agree with your passion in writing. I also have to be able to like what I am reading. If i'm not interested in the topics they are writing in, then what would be the point.
Alot of times I'll be hub hopping and read some really great articles, and decide I want to see more from them.
I love quality writing on subjects that interest me (eg. cats) and categories of writing that interest me (eg. poetry)
What you mention is nice and all - but I rarely follow anyone that doesn't comment something of mine at least once.
Similar interests, good writing. I do not follow those immediately who follow me or comment on my hubs (as is a trend I've noticed). I don't think we should follow anyone if we don't plan on reading their work, but that's just me.
If I enjoy reading the hubbers particular hubs based on content and topic selection.
