There seems to be a new follow button at the end of our hubs on LetterPile but it is only for Twitter. Why isn’t there a follow button for Facebook? Can I get the follow button for facebook instead of twitter?

It appears that these 'follow' buttons depends on the candiates status online?                                    So, if one is on twitter, facebook, pinterest, and what you have, this will be configure to appear. And you follow on facebook.                                    Seriously, if I'm not on facebonk, and you want to follow me, it's a no, no. Thanks.

I have all three but here in my country, people use Facebook more often than Twitter. It’s not about me wanting to follow someone but it’s about other people following me. If someone follows my Twitter he will only see my professional posts related to Cardiology and very few about writing. So following me on Twitter might not serve the purpose of following my articles. So I was wondering if we could put “follow on Facebook” instead of Twitter as an option. I think that option should be there since like you said, not everyone follows the same platform for socializing online. Thank you Miebakagh.

It would be nice if the follow button offered all social media links we provide in our profile. I'm not active on Twitter but it appears next to my name. I'm not really active on FB either, but I'm more apt to check my FB page than Twitter. Then again, my FB page isn't open to the public. That could be the reason HP has chosen Twitter over FB. I think many who have FB pages have them set to "private".

Thank you, Shauna. Well, unless you lock your Facebook profile you can set the privacy setting for each post separately. I am not even used to Twitter. Where we should be followed should be an option that we can choose.

But we don't add the links, HP does. My FB page is set to be viewed by friends, not the public. I don't grant friend requests from people I don't know.

      Hello Farah!
I understand your concerns and I just checked the new changes.
As you scroll down, towards the end you can view your profile photo as well, next to the ‘Twitter follow’ option. Then, if you click on your profile picture, it takes you to your ‘About the author’ information page. At the end of that page, you have the ‘follow’ options for Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, your other blogs or writing platforms, if you have added that in your ‘About’ page. Besides that, your other articles on that particular niche site, can also be viewed below your ‘About the author’ information.
I can view these options on my articles, and I am sure it must be there on yours too.
      Hope it helps. Thank you.

Thanks, ChitrangadaSharan, for your support. Yes, I have added those but having a follow button for twitter only below each hub and not for the rest is what I was talking about. Most people would just read and go or click on the one that is right there. So I wanted an option to change that quick follow button to facebook instead of twitter.

We only have that feature available for Twitter. There is not a Facebook button at this time.

But can we have it or have the option to choose where we want to be followed? It would be nice to have that option. Thank you for responding, Matt! Much appreciated!

Is it technically possible to put the button before comments?

I suppose it's technically possible, but the button is staying where it is for now.

Bummer. I don't think readers who land on our articles organically are going to read thru the comments, especially if there are many.

I don't understand why we can't just paste a link to our Twitter account. Maybe they want to gather stats of clicks on the button or Google treats button links differently to other links. If they're nofollow, there shouldn't be a problem though. I think for now, since the button isn't going to be moved, I'll just put up a road sign, telling readers they can sign up as a Twitter follower by clicking the button at the bottom of the article.

Eugene, you'll have to tell them to sign up at the bottom of comments. If the follow button was placed at the end of the article rather than the end of comments, there wouldn't be an issue.

Sorry, yes, that's what I meant, the bottom of comments. It's a pity links can't be added to images like on Medium. Then I could just add a Twitter button image and make it clickable.

I understand your point of view, Farah. It seems strange to me that Twitter is being used when there is uncertainty about its future nature now that Elon Musk owns it.

big_smile true... I don’t mind Twitter though. I just want the option to select the social media I would want my followers to follow.

The follow button is in an inappropriate place I think. It should be at the bottom of articles, before comments. On one article I have about 10 pages of comments and it takes a lot of scrolling or scroll bar dragging to get to the end of comments on desktop. On a mobile device it would be much worse.

Edit: 34 finger movements to get to the end on mobile.

I agree with you, Eugene. It should appear at the end of the article, not at the end of comments.
