Have you ever received hate mail?

I've been getting a lot lately for a movie review I made a long time ago, and I want to know if there is anyone who has ever received hate mail, and how you respond to it?

I have in the past, and there are a few things to do.  Ignore it if it is just senseless or proves no point.  Some people are cruel and angry, without hope of change.  If they make valid points, respond as kindly as you can with your own opposition.  If you agree with something they say, tell them so!  Look at hate mail as an argumentative discussion with a friend.  People won't agree on everything, so just keep that in mind and write on!

    Hello CarltheCritic1291!

Fortunately, I receive hate-mail very rarely on HubPages but it does happen from time to time. I have experienced it myself a few times over the years, but nothing major. I suspect that the source of hate mail is random because it is usually posted by "Unverified" persons and not by other Hubbers. If it is another Hubber that you feel is attacking or harassing you, you can report it to HubPages and they will investigate and take proper action: http://hubpages.com/contact_us/

If it is an unverified person, you can just delete their comment and ignore it. Don't let it hurt your pride! Obviously, they are a coward if they choose to remain anonymous! If you think that the same unverified user attacking you, then you can report them as well by using the HP Contact link added above. HubPages can block specific IP addresses from accessing the site once they have been banned. They can always try again from a different address, but that is very rare.

I wish you the best of luck with this problem. I hope you can resolve it unscathed. I find the best thing to do is move on and forget the minor details that threaten to ruin our day!  They are just not worth it! Hope this helps!

As a Pagan, and an author of spiritual based hubs/articles here and on other places, I get a regular flow, at times, of hate mail from those who think Paganism in a any form or fashion is evil and such.  This all comes based on misconceptions that are out there.

How I deal with it is one or two ways... If a person is rational, and not too mean, lol, I will take the time to clarify the issue. This has been a good method when doable, and i have gained some great friends.

If the person is just hatefully hateful, then I will spam em and be done with it....and/or block them wherever they may be messaging me from.

I got an extremely nasty comment on one of my Hubs a while ago but it wasn't from anyone on HubPages, just a random troll who'd found my article via Google. I hemmed and hawed about leaving it up there (I did consider responding to it with a brief "thanks for stopping by, and by the way, Bite Me, Zippy!") but eventually I just deleted it.

Yeah once I put an ad on a website to sale out my old cell phone. I received a mail with lots of funny but hating comments. Well I enjoyed that and placed a more hating  reply to that.
