Can you make a descent dollar in hub pages without publishing a hub at all?
Yea you can make money using referral trackers. You can just share hubs that other people write and make $$
So far, it's only cents that I seem to make, so I need to keep following this to find out how to make something from it as well as the fun in reading and writing the hubs.
You get 9-12% share of the ads with referral links. Unless you have a huge group of friends who will read everything you share with them, and you share a lot, then it would be better to write hubs and get a 60% share.
Plus, writing hubs gets you residual income that sharing links does not - unless you share on blogs, and other long term writings
I like to share hubs when I am taking a break from writing hubs. It is a good side income to a side income of writing.
To answer the question...I'm fairly new but from things I've read, yes...you can make $ that way. I don't know how "decent" though. To expand a little on BlossomSB's comment.... The $$ is not overnight. I'm here because I love to write, research, and learn. Some play bingo....I'd rather hub. From all I've read, good quality content, clear presentation, and persistence is the only way you'll make "decent" money in time. That's my goal.
At first, I mostly wrote and read but realized that if you don't know what the tools are for and how to assemble a "good hub", you're great idea will just sit and draw random followers by hapchance. Needless to say, I've been making multiple adjustments to the hubs I first wrote and in a short time have noticed a significant up-tick on those hubs.
In my experience over the last five years on HubPages, no you will not make a decent dollar if you don't publish a Hub.
In fact, you may not make a decent dollar unless you publish a lot of them.
To earn money in hubpages, you need a reader to click your ads, buy from Amazon and Ebay products or refer someone to be a member in the affiliate program. But how can someone click your ads if they have nothing to click? I mean where will you display your ads if you don't have a hub? Where will you display Amazon and Ebay capsules if you don't have an article? Also if you are counting on the hubpages affiliate program, how can you gain trust from someone who wants to sign up under you if they don't see any proof that you are an active hubber writing hubs?
I don't think I can make a penny and how much more with a decent dollar? So I guess we really need to write hubs to make money in hubpages.
As far as i know hubpage is primarily meant to share knowledge by writing informative and useful hubs and through that you can make some money too. Making something through referral is an additional bonus. When a referral wants to join through your link that person obviously will be checking out whether you have written any hubs, before joining.
I don't know how in the world one could do that unless they worked directly for Hubpages.com.
If you want to make money here, all you need to do is publish totally original content that internet users can find and enjoy. It's sort of simple, really.
It is hard enough to make a decent amount of money by writing hubs so I doubt that you could make much of anything by not writing and just sharing hubs through referral trackers. If you really want to make money here, write and write often.
Hey, that would be awesome! I know the answer but I am wondering too.
I don't think this is possible. Because, You should publish at least one hub before you can add an adsense account.

Admittedly I haven't been able to publish anything in a month, but I just published a new Hub and I normally add in all the tags and keywords at the end. However, I can't seem to find the Tags button. I then tried editing a previously published hub and the same thing - the button seems to have...
