What are SEOs and backlinks?
I am a complete amateur when it comes to promoting traffic to my hubs, and very new to all this still! Sorry for asking a simple question like this one. But please help me, and guide me as tp what are SEOs and backlinks; and how to go about it.
My suggestion is to do a search here - many hubbers, myself included, have written good hubs on both of these topics. Also the learning center is a great resource for learning about both of these. SEO is search engine optimization where you learn how to research keywords and write in a way that your work is found via searches. Backlinking is how you promote hubs and get more weight for your links - backlinks can show that a hub is a valuable resource which gives it more weight with search engines and can give you higher search ranking. It also helps visibility and getting people to read your hubs. There is simply too much information to answer it all here so definitely look at the resources I mentioned.
Thank you "ChristinS" and "loued51". It was helpful. :-)
SEO is nothing but Search Engine Optimisation. You make changes to your site so that it has better chances of ranking in Google and other search engines. Creating backlinks is a part of SEO. I will briefly explain the steps i follow: 1.First, choose a keyword for your site 2. Use that keyword in the title tag, URL, H1, H2 tags and about 10 times in the body. 3. Bold, underline and italicise the keyword atleast once. 4. Create a few additional articles related to the keyword and submit it to sites like ezinearticles.com, hubpages.com, blogspot.com etc. with a link back to your site using the keyword as the anchor text from each of the article. This is actually creating backlink.

For a long time it has puzzled me how one of my hubs keeps doing great, when it shouldn't. You see, I started a hub on one topic and then changed my mind in the middle of it.Now, back then I had no idea you couldn't change the URL later, so I was horrified when I was stuck with a URL that couldn't...

Traffic started to rise for me a few weeks ago with a Hub that hit the 100 mark and was top of the charts for hottest and best. After 10 days of basking in the glory, overall traffic started to take a nose dive. I am down to a mere 3 views per day. That's for a total of 51 Hubs not the average....

I have been on hubpages for two months. I have read multiple articles on SEO and backlinking. Ninety percent of my hubs do not have backlinking. But I choose for a while to say no backlinking. It was "different" I thought and "original". ...

Does backlinks from your own hubs or someone else's hub count as a proper backlink for the search engines? Cheers.

Having been on HP now for more than four years while kinda' inactive for the last two I am looking more closely. I have cleaned up my portfolio from over 100 hubs with low views to now about 10. I had a lean of writing more for self than as a business venture seeking a niche. Now, I am looking more...

Hello Everyone, I’m primarily a writer, not a computer buff or web-site designer and in my other attempts at on-line writing I haven’t been trying to earn money, so I haven’t bothered about gaining traffic. I’m patient, I’ve read it takes a while to build up earnings, but...
