The Price of Opinionation

   It is so funny. You see a few weeks ago I came across as a little opinionated in the forums and everything went down, my hubscore, all my hubpage scores, but I thought surely it was just a fluke, right?
   
   This past weekend similar situation. Got involved in a discussion that I was very opinionated on and low and behold what happens in the next 24 hours, yep you guessed it everything is going down again.
   
   So, this leads me to the question: Are we all so petty that we will go and rate hubs down because someone didn't agree with you and voiced their own opinion?
   
   Forums are for debating, answering questions, chatting with friends and sometimes finding out information. If this is the kind of atmosphere that works here, I must say I'm not sure it's the place for me.
   
   First step, stay off the forums. Second step, concentrate only on writing hubs and commenting to hubs. Third step, re-evaluate the situation at the end of Nov and make a final decision on where and what to do next.

      Lynn, I'm absolutely convinced this happened. If you pay attention you can even figure out who did it.  You don't even have to be logged in or leave a comment to rate a hub...

         CJ I have heard from others about this practice and watching where I have stepped and what the results were makes me believe that they were given a thumbs down review. If you don't like me and my opinions that is fine, but don't be childish about it. That is why it's a forum.

      I don't let terrorists dictate my behavior or control my activities. If someone is that small and petty then they have a very big problem. Even if you stay away, some fiend will flag your hubs just out of jealousy or spite or their own ill humor.

   I think you are mistaken in thinking that anyone on the site other than the admins and visitor numbers have the ability to affect your score.
   
   Trust me - If it was possible for anyone to get my score down, it would be waaaaay down.
   
   Don't worry about that stuff. Enjoy the forums - or not - as you feel like it.

         I really think it is, lynn, and not people getting nasty and going and voting all your hubs down.  My hubscore goes up and down like a yo-yo for no known reason, whether or not I participate much in the forums. 
         
         You aren't bad in the way you state your views, from what I've read on the forums.  I don't find you overbearing, or anything, just assertive, and I don't think there's too much wrong with that.  You stay polite, and that's the main thing, from what I can see.

   I agree, and it's happened to me too. When I read others' hubs and comment it goes back up. Just enjoy yourself. After all, you're not paying the rent with this

      I know of several who say this is happening. I sincerely hope it isn't and is just the numbers adjusting and all.

   This may or may not happen but I have heard it said many times not to worry about your profile score, it will go up, it will go down, these things just happen and the reasons are not always understandable. It depends on what is important to you here, your score or your earnings or how often your work is actually read. For 2 of those 3 options it seems that a fluctuating score has no real impact.

      I'm trying to stay positive and not worry about the numbers too much but most of them have dropped at least a couple of points in the last 24 hrs.

   there is so much question from people on this site as to why there hubs go up and down so much, it would be nice if admin verified it for us,,,,,,,,

      Not really saying it is a conspiracy just a PO'd person not liking my comments. I know of several this has happened to in the last couple of weeks.
      
      We all have the right to voice our opinions on the forums whether everyone agrees or not.

   If that is the case Lynne, then I think its really lame of someone to do that. Your score is still high, I would just ignore it. One immature person rating your hubs shouldn't get ya down I understand why you are annoyed though.

      Haha. He keeps trying. But I really don't see his logic. He is making generalizations that aren't always true. But he can't see that. That's ok. He can continue to judge others and search for love online.

    CJ I have to say it really made me mad this morning and hence the post but I am a bit over the whole thing now and gonna try and refocus more effort into the hubs themselves. I hate that it happened to you too.
    
    I know and have spoken to one other person about this. I have read threads about it but there is never anything done. Not that I know if anything could be done in the first place.

    I am definitely going to keep on truckin' Cosette. I was just ill this morning when I saw what had happened overnight. Don't know if it really was due to my opinions or just like some say being active can decrease the score, or just the fluctuations of numbers in general.
    
    I can't stay away obviously cause here I am.

    Lynne, with the thousands of hubs and writers on this site, I seriously doubt -- no, I would stake my life on the fact that your comments have nothing at all to do with your author score. But the bigger question is, why do you care?

       Irohner, I think it is still part of being a newbie. I signed up 5 months ago but didn't really start posting hubs until Sept. That was my own stupidity, lol. So, as a newbie I still watch those numbers closely as I think all the new people do in the beginning.

    Paradise7, again Awww and thank you. I'm feeling much more positive about it at the moment and just gonna concentrate on more writing. I have a whole new thought process on where I want to go and will be starting those hubs next week.

    My hubber score goes up and down and up again and I've pissed off people.  I think it has more to do with your traffic and how often you write hubs. Maybe even if readers click on your adsense, altho I really don't know about that last part.
