That's what I'm trying to find out.  There seems to be people making money though.

Hello, yes you can make money on HubPages. No you are not wasting your time.

It will take time though to generate income, but it does grow as you produce more work. I see you  have just six hubs at the moment. That is good. These will live on HubPages for as long as you leave them published.

Add more over time,  write seasonal and evergreen items that interest people and have fun with the writing too.

Having fun allows you to break through the hard times when hub ideas fail you and you feel bad about writing. Those days happen.

Keep working at your hubbing though and in time you will see results.

You'll get out of it what you put into it. It's not a scam or a "get rich quick" scheme.

You need to consistently write solid hubs that get a lot of traffic. I just joined recently, but I'm already proud of what I have accomplished. The check isn't in the mail yet, but I did win something in the contest last month for one of my hubs answering a question of the day.

Many people write strictly because of their love for it. Don't give up too easily; you're doing a great job!

I explored several content sites like HubPages before joining here. They all work pretty much the same, and they all take time for your posts to generate income. It can take up to six months for a search engine to index an individual hub. I have found that depending on the key words, I can already locate hubs I published 2 months ago, and I see my account grow - albeit by pennies - each day. Patience and good "evergreen" hubs as Bretsuki noted will pay off in the long run.

it really depends on the keywords and title you use, and also the subject matter - i find i can usually place on google's first page within days.  the downside is, search placement and traffic aren't necessarily related to income.

That's true - you can have all the right keywords and get great placement in search results, but unless you get the click, and then subsequent clicks, it's not a lock that you'll make money

it's possible but extremely hard - you're going to have to treat it as a full time job to earn anything approaching a decent income.  you're also going to have to concentrate on topics that draw ads people will click on, and that's likely not the topics most of us want to write about.

i've had a website since 1995 - 10 years ago, ad revenue from the website paid my internet expenses, with traffic of just under 1,000,000 views a month. over time, those numbers shrank.  i've transferred many of my webpages to hubpages, and they now easily outrank my website content.  however, traffic doesnt promise ad revenue, so i make substantially less now on hubpages

ultimately whether it's worth your time is a questuion only you can answer

No one can actually answer that question for you.  There is the potential to make money through this site, but no one can say for sure if you will be one of the writers who becomes successful.

I have collected earnings stats from the community for four years now, and on average most writers earn less than $10/month.
