Every time I try to import an image from either Wikimedia Commons or Flickr, it doesn't work.
I'm using the instructions from the learning center, but it still doesn't work.
Try reading some hubs, this is a pretty good one - How to Use Flickr Photos on Your Hubs by marisawright...
By using the search tool at the top of the hubpages page you can do a search for hubs on the topic of choice. I find that useful sometimes too.
