As a new hubber, I was hoping to gain some insight.
What has motivated you to stay on HubPages and continue to publish hubs?
Good question. I am also relatively new to hubbing (I have published eleven hubs and have another three ready to publish). The reason for me to publish hubs is that I want to write a book (I have an idea in mind) and wanted to get back into the habit of writing. I just tend to write hubs on things that pop into my mind or things that people ask me as well as things around me. Although any money I may make in the future is nice, it is certainly not the main reason for writing.
Robbie, I enjoy my hubs, I write about the trips that I go on as a tour escort for a tour bus company. Although I enjoy my hubs and the comments and support of other hubbers, I have yet to make any money. My ad account thing says still pending.
Personally, writing hubs began as a bit of personal therapy for a Mom going through empty nest syndrome with my oldest child struggling through a difficult marriage (whose husband had cut her off from her family), while middle child was serving in the US Marines overseas AND having a devastating tornado hitting our town turn my youngest child into a withdrawn stranger moving out while dealing with his survivor's guilt! I felt helpless and needed something to pour my attention into, something in which to lose myself. HubPages provided that for me. NOW, I continue because I have found it an outlet for sharing those good, bad and crazy things that happen in life. It helps me to sort through things, store things and share things! I have grown because I have shared.
P.S. - Daughter and family are doing okay. My Marine is stateside and almost done with his active service. My youngest has gotten his act together and is achieving his dream! A working police officer. One year and it's good! Anxious to see where we are this time next year!
Thanks for your feedback guys. I think my answer to my question, at least so far, is becausue of the community. I have met some awesome hubbers here who have helped me grow and learn new things and have inspired me to keep on going!
I think it is a great place to share knowledge and opinions. there is vast variety of topics on hubpages to write about and read about.I am really enjoying hubpages.
HubPages has given me an avenue and a glimpse into the new age of electronic writing. I still have a lot to learn regarding the techy side of creating attention attracting posts. What keeps me here is the tremendous comraderie that pervades amongst we hubbers. I've also learned a lot, as many who post extend tips on internet writing and where to go to make money.
I first came to HP to make money. I've since learned I won't be quitting my day job any time soon, but the love I have found here and the genuine support of those of us who follow each other is beyond making money. We share, we laugh, we cry and we get to know each other. It's really pretty amazing, considering many of the people you meet are from parts of the world you may never see. But through the eyes and expression of each and every hubber, the world has expanded. Mine has, anyway.
Stick with HP, Josh. There is a lot to learn here and people you'll meet whom will become friends for life. I, for one, am very glad I happened upon this community.
Thanks for your feedback, I am definitely going to stay here! I was just curious what other people had to say
Wow, Fairy Godson, I'm honored! I didn't even know you very well when I answered your question. Do I win a prize??? ha ha
You are welcome fairy godmother! I don't have a prize, except for your now fame and honor!
Probably a Napoleonic Complex with a touch of Dwight Moody Wannabe! One Hubber put me down as one of ten "most likely to change the world," so now I've GOT to try to achieve that goal, given that I don't have any babies that need to be changed!
i have actually stopped writing hubs but i think if i got more time i would do it to create more online property
If nothing else, cheaptoys, resume writing for HP and following some of the amazing writers to strengthen your fervor for writing. It's not a money making place, but the knowledge, support and friendship you'll find here is second to none!

I have just started, so I dont expect it in the near future, but how many hubs, or how many months before you start making money? How much traffic is considered to be good traffic? Right now I am getting about an average of 75 hits per day on 4 hubs. Is that good? What...

Hello! I am new to HubPages but not to writing. I don't know why it's taken me so long to join this lovely community, but I guess all that matters at this point is that I finally had time and frame of mind to join. I am really looking forward to interacting with those who are most active on...
