Should HubPages offer instant chat/messaging for hubbers?
We played with this idea and ultimately came up with the answer: no.
The problem with writers on hubpages is most have a sense of "elite" which would end up being lots of rants and arguments that hubpages just doesn't have to monitor. It is a much more common ground to make close friends with hubbers you actually want to talk with on sites like Facebook and Skype to take care of that. Also, many hubbers (like myself) are also on Google+ and Twitter and using those sites manage to stay in contact with each other. For awhile a hubber hosted an mIRC chatroom that could hold up to 500 hubbers at once which turned out unsuccessful to say the least.
I would agree that the answer should be no. Chat rooms turn into arguments most of the time and if too many are involved it would be come as unproductive as the forum feature, which I try to avoid.

I'd like to see Hubpages set up a chatroom for hubbers. I know it might hurt ratings for some people when their hub gets hijacked...but here's what I think. We all like to chat with one another, and hijacking someone's hub happens from frustration at not having an open chat room. ...

Why doesn't HP implement a 'Trusted Authors' scheme where established writers can by-pass the 24 hour 'Pending' test for new hubs. As an established writer, I find this very annoying especially as the Google bot trawls Pending hubs, sees the NOINDEX Tag and does not re-crawl the page for days...
