Do you or have you ever changed your profile avatar? Why?
Whilst I believe most people don't do this I have noticed a few people who seem to do this quite regularly.
I do quite often. Being part of a community as big as this one can sometimes leave you isolated if you do not participate. Those that participate will learn the personalities of those they interact with. We're not all rigid. We have moods and we have a sense of humor. Sometimes we show those moods and that sense of humor by changing our avatars. Sometimes the mood just may be a change in the holiday or a special event. Some people don't want to use a real picture, they are more comfortable with being anonymous but the longer you are here and the more you practice, the more confidence you will find and the easier it will be to show who you are and know that you are accepted in this community.
I change mine from time to time, I think it is almost like an ADD thing! I do the same thing with the picture that is on my phone screen. I can't seem to keep the same picture for very long. Come to think of it, I also change the screen saver picture on my laptop quite a bit!
lol At least you're consistent across the board :-)
I have but only out of respect to someone who emailed me and felt my previous pic was disrespectful. Normally I wouldn't have done something like that but I also don't want to have a "bad" image here on hp.
That's fair enough although i don't know if everyone would be as reaonable.Hadn't thought about that one.
I haven't changed my avatar in over 3 years on hubpages. There have been a few times where I thought it was getting stale and I wanted to change it, but I forced myself not to. Mostly this is because of branding. People will associate your picture with your name, articles, questions and forum posts. Suddenly changing it can upset the reputation you've built and make it harder for some people to locate you. It's a small thing, but I want to be as consistent as possible.
Like you M.T. i've not changed mine and probably never will for the same reasons you outline.I'm not the best with change :-) and i'm pretty fond of my little robot avatar to boot :-)

I'm considering changing my profile picture because I want to be more professional but I don't know. What are your thoughts? I know many people have changed their pictures to resemble what their hubs are and I want to make sure my readers and fans know clearly what I write about most often and what...

I know a lot of people will say that this isn't necessary but wouldn't it help reduce spammers. Admit it, most of the people on HP who spam are without a bio and avatar. I know there are some sock pockets that go through the extra trouble to create real-looking accounts but I am sure that after a...

I have changed mine a couple of times lately...but then I got to thinking that I have definitely somehow attached identities to Hubbers and their profile pics...know what I mean? So...is it weird when someone "you think you know" changes up the profile pic on you?

I changed my avatar today to reflect the mood I was looking for. Since it's cold and I'm stuck inside,I picked a bright pink flower to remind me of warmer weather.Do you change often and I wonder if a face is better?

Who votes for a larger profile picture on our hubs? The minimum avatar size I would be happy with is only 100px. That is twice the size of our current minuscule 50 px avatars. Because many of my Hub Titles occupy 2 lines, the lay-out would look better too. What do you think?
