What is the relation of 'rock' music with 'satanic verses'? Is there a link at all?

I enjoy the occasional rock tunes especially soft rock. However I heard that some rock music contain encrypted satanic verses. Could this be true and may u have some examples?

My opinion won't be the most popular one, I'm sure, but as far as I'm concerned rock's relationship with "Satan" is an urban legend (at best). I've been listening to rock music (esp. Hard Rock/Heavy Metal music, which of course is the most EEEEEEEVIL music of all) for 30+ years and in all that time I've never felt any particular urge to commit suicide, kiss a goat or partake in ritual Satanic sacrifice.
Sure, there are loads of bands that sing ABOUT Satan, but the idea that there are "encrypted satanic verses" in ALL rock lyrics sounds like a load of B.S. to me.
    That's my two cents.

Hi cuttler I am not an fan of metal but to believe it or any rock is harboring "Satanic verse" is ludicrous ...music...all music is spiritual in nature ...it just speaks to different  people through different forums.

I agree that music is spiritual..I also believe that music contains a message. Sometimes the message is open but other time it is encrypted...This is what I fear most... I like your view, thanks for sharing

Rock n' Roll was never about satanism...modern rock has plenty of cursing and drug and sex references but it's not I've actually never heard more than one that made a direct reference to satan (and the one I heard was making fun of satan).

I love rock. While it is not satanic a lot of it does speak about there being no god.
No Jesus Christ by Seether (this is one of my favorite songs ever), Bukowski by modest mouse, Jesus Christ Pose by Soundgarden,  and Heresy by NIN are just a few with anti religion lyrics. Filter, NIN, MM, Seether, Incubus, Smashing pumpkins, Godsmack, cake, Pearl Jam, Tool, Marilyn Manson, Bad Religion, and Green Day are just a few of the bands that have either spoken out against religion or God. It is very common in rock music. It's the one place people can gather and not have to be fake, yet still become popular.

Thanks for dropping by...from your view, I get the impression that some rock music, though not satanic, is blasphemous...true??

By definition yes. However I am not a believer of any deity so I have no reason to dislike this kind of music.

To me, rock music, heavy metal or otherwise are just genres of music just like reggae, country music, rythm and blues, rumba, etc, etc. Anyone with an inclination towards satanism can infuse his or her ideas anywhere in the arts -  in paintings, wrought iron, architecture, literature and sculpture. The legend has probably been advanced by religious fundamentalists who, bent on a need to awe and scare adherents onto a supposedly straight path look for satan in every nook and cranny.  I have never liked rock music so you can take my word.
