What are the health benefits associated with pepper?

I am a great fan of spicy and hot food. But I really don't know whether I am doing my body any good by eating hot stuff like pepper. So, any  health benefits?

There are many health benefits to eating black pepper and hot and sweet peppers.  Here a just a few:  Pepper is a natural antibiotic, as is garlic.  Hot peppers help reduce blood pressure and boost the immune system.  They improve digestion and Promote Intestinal Health. Peppers, both sweet and hot, are packed with vitamins and carotenoids. Sprinkle on this spice (black and/or white pepper) to calm a cold, detox your skin, and even help fight cancer. Peppers can be used as a natural cold remedy, for pain control, and for improving metabolism. ...and more.
