Not to marketing articles but sharing tips, suggestion, participating in discussions and sometimes to increase our visibility.
I'm an active Google+ Community member and moderator, so I tend to use that as my main channel for sharing useful content; it's highly successful for me, as the communities are tightly focussed around my main topics (small business and entrepreneurship).
The key to being successful though is to add genuine value to any forum thatr you're a part of; don't just join to share articles, no matter how useful they are. It's all about interacting and being a useful member of the community.
If you're interested in the best ways to do this for Google+, I have written a hub on it, linked from my profile.
Most of my Hubs are about either music or movies, and I belong to several forums that cater to both of those subjects, so I post links to my Hubs there.
I dont use forums to market my Hubs but I think it would be a great idea to try forums
