Will regularly editing my Hubs decrease page rank?

I regularly update my Hubs, especially my quotes Hubs, but have come to think this could be affecting their page ranK?  Some work I have reported as Copyright Infringement (Copy/paste of my page) has ranked higher than my Hub in Google search results, and I've been wondering if this could be because of the date last updated (Being after the date the page was copied). So then newer version ranking behind the old page (Which has been copied).

maybe the person copied your hubs was a bit luckier/smarter/industrious in creating backlinks

Maybe luckier, I"m finding my Quotes Hubs copy/pasted into others user profiles on various sites, so I don't think they're being smart in this case wink

I think if you use title tune then page rank will not decrease.

I don't put a lot of stock in page ranking, but I would assume that updating would be considered an improvement and would help the ranking. They seem to base ranking on the frequency of hits more than anything.
How do you know when there is copyright infringement? Since I write a lot of business and technological articles, it would be important to me to know when I've been cited as a source, as well - can we find that out?

Hi Bonnie-Jean, I used a website called Copyscape dot com, I heard of the site through a Hubpages Hub and I run some text from my Hubs into their tool, and found many pages had been copied that way, it's certainly worth checking up on.

I have Copyscape - use it to verify my own work. I will definitely look into that. thanks.
A lot of my articles are based on my 'lectures' when teaching online and I noticed that those were being hit a lot.

I don't really know for sure, but my guess is that editing helps more than it hurts.

To me, traffic is important but self-satisfaction is more important. If I can improve my hub, I improve it, irrespective of whether the page rank falls temporarily because in the long run, it should improve, if it is indeed an improvement.

Not all updating, however, are improvements. Sometimes, we tend to overdo things. Every article can be turned into a book, for example, but lengthy articles do put off a lot of readers. It is easier to read a book than to read online.
