What made you sign up for Hubpages and write?

What made you sign up for Hubpages and write?  What was your motivation to start and continue writing?

Many people will come to Hubpages on the basis that they have discovered they can write articles and use that as a platform to promote their own business, or to earn a passive income, or to work towards becoming a published author.

What was your reason for joining Hubpages in the first instance?

For me, I joined Hubpages to earn money online - and that has been successful, but money is not the motivation for everybody.  What's yours?

I stumbled across it from a blog by accident and used to write lots when I was at University for the newspaper but had let it slip, so thought it would be a good idea to get started again really and enjoying the user friendly interfaces and data I can analyse.

It's a nice hobby for me really to get better as a writer and do something I enjoy. It's also made me get into blogging and as I work in Marketing industry I'm learning lots of interesting skills that actually help me in my job also i.e. more familiarity with Wordpress, Google Analytics etc.

Money isn't a big motivator for me as have a good, stable job and treating any earnings as a 'bonus' really.

For me it's the possibility of earning an income. I'll be in a position in a few months where I won't be able to work to earn money, so I'm hoping that this will be a way for me to earn a passive income. I've been writing since late last year and I'm on track to making my first 'pay out' at the end of this month. My earnings have been increasing consistently each month and I'm feeling very encourage by this. I hope to get to a stage where I'm earning at least $100 per month.

I wanted to find a place that could motivate me to write and money being made was just icing on the cake. At first, it was just to share information. Writing about interesting topics, reading to learn, etc. Now, I just remain on as a hobby.

I've always liked to write, and when I found out that I could post my work on a website where people might actually read it, I jumped at the chance.  Of course, the money side provided some motivation for me to ACTUALLY get around to it.

I came with the impression that I could earn more from AdSense, rather than running my own group of websites, after I accidentally read about HubPages in the internet. (Fortunately, at that time, I did not read about how Panda hurts HubPages so badly, LOL.)
I have been running my own websites since 2008, and am presently getting monthly payments from AdSense. It's still too early to tell but even if I don't earn as much as I had expected, I love the HubPages community and the way the Management is running this portal. I have learned quite a lot, ever since I join HubPages early last month. Billybuc has been a constant source of inspiration for me, and for all I know, I may even attempt to publish a book one day... something I have never dared to think about.

I don't even remember how I found this site.  I joined for the idea of making money online, but I stayed to try to improve my writing.  I also love reading others hubs and if I can write a hub that can help someone then great.  I made this profile worth while.

As a stay at home mother of three children under the age of 7, it seems I hardly ever get any time to myself anymore. I'm not complaining, my husband works long hours and still manages to help with the kids when he gets home.

I have always loved writing, and have considered taking some college classes to better myself. But, time and money have not allowed that as of yet. I was desperately seeking an outlet. I considered creating a blog of my own, but was afraid the upkeep would be too overwhelming at this point in my life.

Then...I found Hubpages! Not only can write about WHATEVER I please, I have the possibility of getting compensated for it. I have only been a member for 6 weeks, but have been feeling a little more like me lately and not just mommy. smile

I am not sure how I found out about Hub pages, but I see it as a haven for me to resort to when I feel creative about writing. Writing is one of my passions, and I was on another social site among a group of writers and found I received inspiration among my peers. Since I am off work for the Summer I look forward to rekindling my passion and seeing how creative I can get again.

I was actually looking for a place in which i can write about different topics and share my poems. And when i found out that i can earn money it was even better; i like knowing that i can post anything and get great feedback from others and also improve my writing also.

Like yourself, I joined Hubpages to make money from writing. That has not happened but I stay here for the enjoyment I get from writing for it's own sake. As a fellow hubber said writing is like painting with words. This is a great site and I enjoy reading and writing here
