How do you use a Referral Tracking Code?

After reading the little help window next to my Referral Tracking Code, I am lost and confused. It said to share a Hub and click the link to my tracking code, and enter it in. I tried. I'm not sure that I understand what to do here. Your helpful comments are greatly appreciated!

Go into your referral trackers section: https://hubpages.com/my/earnings/trackers

Insert a track with an underscore directly before it, straight after the .com.

For instance if I have a tracker called wrylilt, I'd change my URL from:
    hubpages.com/forumpost to hubpages.com/_wrylilt/forumpost

You can create as many trackers as you like, and insert them in any Hubpages link. You can read more about how they earn for you here: http://darkside.hubpages.com/hub/tracking

Thank you for your help WryLilt. I just discovered this Referral Tracking Code link today and I have been reading as much as I can about it, so that I can learn how it works. I've seen you help many people on Hub Pages and I think that is awesome.

WryLit is correct, but there is an easier alternative to using a tracker. HubPages has already provided a default tracker just for your account (or you can create new ones). Go to the hub you want the tracker on and scroll to the very bottom of the page, click "link to this page" and a URL with the tracker will be provided for you. Just cut and paste it wherever you want to use it. Also, the learning center has tracker info and several of us have written referral tracker hubs.
By the way, you can create different trackers if you want to moderate the sites you use them for. For example, a tracker for Facebook, twitter and Google+. You don't have to create different trackers, but it is a nice option to have if you are analyzing how the trackers are working.
    Good luck to you, MO

Thank you missolive for helping to guide this Rookie Hubber! I found the link at the bottom of a Hub & shared it outside of HP. It must be ok to share other people's as well as my own Hubs on other sites or the option wouldn't be there, I assume?

Glad I could offer some assistance.
Yes, Aplethora23, you can use the tracker on any hub and share it offsite. I have had a few successful hubbers sign up under my tracker and it is a nice way to earn a bit more.
