Have you guys noticed an increase of personal requests? Or is it just me?
i have never gotten one but if i did i would do my best to answer it.
I recieved them to some made sense and some were not so sensible at all.
nope haven't noticed anything about personal requests...where do I go to see if I have any?
I have been giving 3 personal requests for either answers or Hubs, about certain topics. I have 1 published - Why are you intelligent?, which was asked by PrettyDarkHorse of me. Then Lyricsingray had requested a Hub or answer to a question on "How or Do I save my unpublished Hubs?", which I answered without the need of writing a Hub about it, because there wasn't enough information in the process to create a detailed Hub about it.
I have also been requested to write a more detailed Hub about CAGSIL the company itself, for which, I haven't done yet and considering the size or scope of that particular question is so large, I'm not sure I can fit it into only one Hub. It might be too long, even for a Hub. That would lead me to understand that I have to break it down into sections, so it can be easily understood. And, that's going to take quite of bit of time.
I do answer questions directed to me and if there is enough information to form a Hub, then I'll be glad to publish a detailed response to the person's question.
Great question. Thank you.
No I have had quite a few in the past weeks. A lot of things contributed to this - I think Hubpages has gone through quite a growth spurt. And when I became part of the Hub Challenge team and then when I posted my November earnings.
Some get very adamant, but I have very little free time, so very few requests are answered.
The only personal requests that I've gotten have been for me to go to hell, and other unpleasant acts....
Sorry, people usually aren't that nice about it. They usually use words like fuck off and die
that as well
and 'put some clothes on!', lately
How sad. Did you remind them that's your job--to put a little hell people's lives? And therefore, their words are redundant. No bad news for you, amigo. Hell no!
Is it just after the 'ask a question' capsule was added to all published hubs?
I've had a few more recently, and they all pretty much looked like they were from college students who didn't want to do their own research. (I could, of course, be wrong - but based on the "assignment-like" request, I don't think so. ) (It makes sense. Winter break is just around the corner.)
It seems as though some people confuse this with a social networking site. Or maybe that's the way some people think the whole web should be.
And a lot of it is general laziness. They don't want to figure out how to do things.
That's very true, Nelle. I've noticed that trend very strongly over the past few months. Not just personal requests, but the number of people who seem to join primarily, or only, to interact in the forums rather than to write Hubs. As you've probably noticed, some of them think forum posts ARE Hubs. They seem to think the site is more like MyLot, where you get paid for comments.
I wish I could work out where the misunderstanding is coming from - maybe people are finding forum posts in Google searches so they're arriving via the forums rather than via Hubs?
I've had dozens of requests to mend relationships and marriages with my powerful voodoo magick (which is apparently something I come highly recommended at). Sad really, but a little odd, I'm not sure who is recommending me for such services.
I've also been asked to remove curses cast by Indian transsexuals, to teach people mind control spells, and to give advice on international drug smuggling, amongst other things.
It's a strange old world.
disturbingly hillarious...but I still dont know what a personal request is? I get asked to do the dishes...?
its your tags. and links...and name...
Kind of the same thing, but via HP, and usually a lot weirder.
But you're right about the name, tags, etc. in the words of Radiohead 'You do it to yourself, you do...'
They can be quite upsetting at times, but there's nothing I can do.
but you help too. Im going to buy that cd hopefully soon.
Yeah definitely get that one, tell ya bloke you want it for Xmas.
Shit, have I put my foot in something big time? sorry.
I haven't been reading any hubs lately, my computer totally fucked up for ages, and is still pretty fucked now 90% of the time.
Will check them out to see what's going on.
Hope you're OK anyways.
Mr V. I am always going to be ok, eventually.
I know about your computer, my email has been down for ages.
so will you.
still cant remeber if thats hugs or kisses?
I got to go in a second. been nice catching up with you.
Sounds like a business opportunity, my friend. But your avatar really begs for these kinds of requests, no?
I've been offered money, if I was a **** I'd have taken it and cast my 'magick' and vanished.
But you're right about the avatar and name.
people are desperate. They are at the end of thier ropes. They want anything there is to fix whatever is wrong, and .....they dont know YOU. They find your name via search...
Its sad, really.
Very true, there have been moments in my own life where I'd have considered handing over all my cash to some weirdo in a mask if I thought they could make it all better.
I got one yes and it's too broad, asking me to answer if its possible to make money? and I'm asking, uhhh, well, with what? where? huh?
I am working on a "requested" hub right now and love the challenge. I would regardless of topic because it broadens my portfolio in addition to learning something new.
It is a compliment to have a hub requested I believe.

Hi everyone,We have to delete about 5-10 requests a day that are well-meaning, but do not adhere to what we're looking for for requests.Requests are NOT for:- asking people's opinions (like "What is your favorite..." or "What do you think about...")- very basic information (like...

Okay, not only are people posting things that don't make sense as requests, they're also introducing themselves, carrying on semi-conversations, and making Xmas wishlists, as far as I can tell. Oh, and some people posting requests and answering them themselves, which I think is bogus. Is there...

Sometimes I stumble upon a HubPages request that could be answered by a Hub I've already written... but of course I couldn't submit another such Hub. There should be a way to use a Hub already made in order to answer a request.

I know that hubpages really pushes for new hubs to be created, and rightfully so. However, I'm thinking it would be nice to be able to "answer a hub request" with an existing hub.So if someone does a hub request for something I've written on (revver videos, for example), I can simply...

Go look at the Q&A section (used to be Request a Hub)More than half the questions are technical or advice about Hubpages type questions. People aren't getting that it's not supposed to a help type question.I also thought it was a FAQ or help type question and was getting frustrated...

Is there an etiquette with regard to getting requests and not answering them? Somehow it just seems rude to delete them and ignore the requester; but if we e.mail them to politely decline there's the chance that all they wanted was our e.mail anyway.Yesterday morning, before I even had my...
