You may not if you were under the impression someone thought you were dumb enough to do their homework for them and call it a "Hub".  lol

I have been giving 3 personal requests for either answers or Hubs, about certain topics. I have 1 published - Why are you intelligent?, which was asked by PrettyDarkHorse of me. Then Lyricsingray had requested a Hub or answer to a question on "How or Do I save my unpublished Hubs?", which I answered without the need of writing a Hub about it, because there wasn't enough information in the process to create a detailed Hub about it.

I have also been requested to write a more detailed Hub about CAGSIL the company itself, for which, I haven't done yet and considering the size or scope of that particular question is so large, I'm not sure I can fit it into only one Hub. It might be too long, even for a Hub. That would lead me to understand that I have to break it down into sections, so it can be easily understood. And, that's going to take quite of bit of time.

I do answer questions directed to me and if there is enough information to form a Hub, then I'll be glad to publish a detailed response to the person's question.

      Great question. Thank you. big_smile

No I have had quite a few in the past weeks. A lot of things contributed to this - I think Hubpages has gone through quite a growth spurt. And when I became part of the Hub Challenge team and then when I posted my November earnings.

Some get very adamant, but I have very little free time, so very few requests are answered.

    whats a personal request?

    1. Whitney05 profile image85
Whitney05posted 13 years agoin reply to this

A request that a user makes specifically to a particular person.

Most of mine are more like comments and questions that should be in the comment section. I've had several lately. More than my entire time here, I'd estimate.

The only personal requests that I've gotten have been for me to go to hell, and other unpleasant acts....

How sad. Did you remind them that's your job--to put a little hell people's lives? And therefore, their words are redundant. No bad news for you, amigo. Hell no!

Is it just after the 'ask a question' capsule was added to all published hubs?

I've had a few more recently, and they all pretty much looked like they were from college students who didn't want to do their own research.  (I could, of course, be wrong - but based on the "assignment-like" request, I don't think so.  lol  )  (It makes sense.  Winter break is just around the corner.)

It seems as though some people confuse this with a social networking site. Or maybe that's the way some people think the whole web should be.

And a lot of it is general laziness. They don't want to figure out how to do things.

That's very true, Nelle.  I've noticed that trend very strongly over the past few months.  Not just personal requests, but the number of people who seem to join primarily, or only, to interact in the forums rather than to write Hubs.  As you've probably noticed, some of them think forum posts ARE Hubs.  They seem to think the site is more like MyLot, where you get paid for comments.

I wish I could work out where the misunderstanding is coming from - maybe people are finding forum posts in Google searches so they're arriving via the forums rather than via Hubs?

I've had dozens of requests to mend relationships and marriages with my powerful voodoo magick (which is apparently something I come highly recommended at).  Sad really, but a little odd, I'm not sure who is recommending me for such services.

I've also been asked to remove curses cast by Indian transsexuals, to teach people mind control spells, and to give advice on international drug smuggling, amongst other things.

    It's a strange old world.

lol disturbingly hillarious...but I still dont know what a personal request is? I get asked to do the dishes...?
its your tags.  smile and links...and name...

Mrvoodooposted 13 years agoin reply to this

Kind of the same thing, but via HP, and usually a lot weirder. big_smile

But you're right about the name, tags, etc.  in the words of Radiohead 'You do it to yourself, you do...'

They can be quite upsetting at times, but there's nothing I can do.

I haven't been reading any hubs lately, my computer totally fucked up for ages, and is still pretty fucked now 90% of the time.

Will check them out to see what's going on.

                Hope you're OK anyways. hmm

Very true, there have been moments in my own life where I'd have considered handing over all my cash to some weirdo in a mask if I thought they could make it all better.

I am working on a "requested" hub right now and love the challenge.  I would regardless of topic because it broadens my portfolio in addition to learning something new.

It is a compliment to have a hub requested I believe.
