It's not a question of how long, it's how well. You research until you have enough information to describe the point you want to make or illustrate the idea you have in mind. You must know your subject to write about it in a manner that leaves your reader satisfied that you're well acquainted with the topic.
For me this usually takes about a week, I will write the main body and then go back and add specific details, proof read, add links and illustration (graphics), photos, polls and make sure I have covered the points I wanted to make in my opening paragraph.

When looking for information on a hub topic it is good to make sure that the information is accurate and that you have done your homework because there is nothing worse than reading an article that has false...
