Anyone have any idea how this can happen? I just looked at my traffic sources, and from one of them (its actually a forum) I have -10 for today? How in the world does one get negative traffic? Did 10 people attempt to view my hubs and get sucked into a vortex?
I know traffic is down around the holidays, but, seriously!
Any ideas?
Sorry, can't help. Doesn't make sense to me either.
I've experienced this, too. I have -10 from yahoo and -10 from ask.com.
Algorithm issues. Somewhere the formula doing the calculation is off.
My traffic sources also shows -11 and -6. It is again a glitch, as I think.
Traffic has seriously gone down.
Thanks,
Jyoti Kothari
There is a couple of more threads going on about this.. it is affecting everyone.. another "glitch" i suppose
Well, at least I'm not alone. Black holes and vortex's would be lonely without company.
LOL thats funny. I've been reading that traffic is down for the Holidays bcuz the next few weekends are family partys and what not ,but to be negative it has to be a problem with the servers. Both of these issues are affecting everyone although my own stats didn't go negative or way down. Vortex LOL. Maybe your writing is just so good that its drawing all readers like a black hole and minimizing then to particles! haha. Staff is probably out at holiday paties and don't realize the servers are smoking! Jk i'm sure they are working on it.
haha. That must be it! I like your theory the best, so I'll go with it.
Here's another weird one. My little tag in the forums claims I have 25 followers, yet my profile only says I have 24. OH NO!!! ONE OF MY FOLLOWERS MUST HAVE GOTTEN SUCKED INTO THE VORTEX TOO!!! Holy crap, this is getting serious.
PLEASE NO ONE READ MY HUBS! YOU MAY BE VAPORIZED!
I did not get to the negative number yet, but I saw my number of clicks went down!
I hope there will be an explanation for negative clicks tomorrow.
Are they going to take an extended time off for the holidays?
The clicks you see in Adsense are real. The clicks outside of Adsense may or may not be real. Also, be aware that the clicks in Adsense are typically 60% of your true total (due to the 40/60) split with hubpages on ads, so 60 impressions on Adsense equates to 100 impressions on your pages.
As for the Christmas vortex eating away clientele ... understand that more people are using their online time to shop directly online right now.
During the normal time of the year, a person might shop around for info on a product before purchasing it for themselves, but Christmas is about buying for others - and typically, not much research is done into that. If little Johnny wants a Tonka truck, his dad goes to Amazon.com directly, looks up the product, and buys it - no need to google it as he already has the intent that he will get it if the price is right.
Also, all of this shopping cuts into free browsing time, where one looks up articles on how-tos and such. Unless your how-tos are designed around cooking a better Christmas meal or how-to decorate for Christmas, you might not see as many hits this time of year.
And that's okay .............
This is the time you should all be writing your best stuff, in preparation for the New Year.
Why?
Because will return to their old browsing habits after the New Year and they will be looking for new material to read.
So, less worry - more writing.
Thanks Yoshi- Some good advice.
Funny, I never thought about less research going into holiday purchases. I generally do more because I know less about other's interests than I do my own. But, it definitely makes sense!
Hi Yoshi,
It is right for America and Europe where majority of population is Christian and are busy in shopping directly. Christians are in minority in India. Hence traffic from India just not gone down.
My Overseas traffic has gone down but Indian traffic is up!
I am getting more traffic from Google India and less from Google. com.
Thanks,
Jyoti Kothari
There will be lower visitors because of Christmas, however I have noticed some unrealistic stats on some of my Hubs.
I noticed a few negative values over the last week, mostly on slideshows.

In the last 24 hours, I have seen multiple negative numbers under the traffic sources, from outside sources... What is going on?
by Brandon Lobo 10 years ago
From around 500 - 600 a day my traffic kept falling and was constant around 350 - 400 for the past 2 months. Now it's just 85... And I'm not saying I was affected by the Panda, my hubs are still ranking around the same positions. Any idea what could be the reason? Last December it wasn't this low...

For some Hubs, the traffic sources will show negative values.Others have 24 hour, 7 day and 30 day totals that don't match (30 day lower that 7 day for example). This is a known issue and we are working on a long-term solution to address it.Thank you for your continued patience.

Just wanted people to know that we are aware of an issue that is resulting in a subset of account level traffic sources to show as negative here.http://hubpages.com/my/hubs/traffic-sourcesWe are aware of the issue and are working to resolve it.Thank you for your continued patience.
