Why can't I unfollow a forum from my email, just as I do with hubs?
I love following forums, but after a while, if the thread is so long, it fills up my email so quickly. Each time I go to click unfollow the forum from the email, it takes me to a page that says "Error" contact the HubPages team. So strange, at least to me. So, what I have to do is actually go to the forum and unfollow it from there. No big deal, but I am curious. Has this been the case for you too as relates to unfollowing forums?
I am not following any now to unfollow from mail to see what it does but I know I have always had to go to the forum to stop following because it is aggravating if you keep forgetting to have to sign back in and find it to unfollow unless you did just get a notice so you could. Will be interested to find out. I am really surprised we can stop following hubs through an email to be truthful; lol. Pretty amazing.
Yes, me too! Oh, really, yes you can unfollow a hub from email, right below the link, it will say unfollow LOL. The forums can go on and on, but after a while, it just overloads my email. It would be more convenient to just do it from the email.
go to your account page. Next click following. Now go to forums. Finally, select the unfollow button for any forum you are following. You can also at the top select if you wish to follow forums you originate or post. Plus, going to your 'My Account' and then profile at the top you will see email settings. There is where you can tailor your settings for notifications.
Hi tsmog, oh, thank you so much. I remember to go there to unfollow hubs after a bit as it is so easy to go down the line and hit unfollow but did not think about the forums there too. Still wonder why we can't unfollow from our email like for hubs?
No need for so much exercise. Directly click on the message received from forum discussions and it lands you to the forum page where you can immediately click unfollow within a fraction of second. It is so easy to unfollow.
Hi Ven, thanks for weighing in here. I am just curious why all is not consistent is all. Blessings
Rereading your question I apologize I leaped to how to solve the dilemma as how I do. Using the second suggestion I receive no emails. Only the general notification sent daily. I don't like the clutter. Of course that comes from many sources
tsmog:
Do you not receive "Here are your recent notifications"? They would have forums being followed.
Yes The Examiner-1. That is what I meant as being the general notification - 'Here are Your Recent Notifications'. Otherwise at Profile → email settings I selected not to receive notifications other than the last Topic listed titled "When I . . ."
Hi tsmog, oh no apologies necessary and thank you for taking time to answer as you deemed necessary.
Hmm, that is strange. I just tried it with three of them. I will have to investigate this farther try and to find out.
Hi Kevin, thanks for looking into it further. I know it is not a big deal, but I am just curious as to why there is an inconsistency in the emails. Blessings
So am I Faith, you have brought up a good point.
I don't think there is any inconsistency in the emails. I just checked once again and found that even for hubs, when you click on your email to unfollow, it takes you to another page for confirmation to know whether you really want to unfollow.
@ Thanks Kevin. @Hi Ven, that's true, but just wondering why it is not the same for forums. No big deal though for sure. Have a great day guys.
I just tried a forum that was started by one Hubber, and was sent to a profile page, and I got an idea. Perhaps it has to do with so many Hubbers on the forum in progress, and that is why we have to directly to the forum to Unfollow.
Hi Kevin, that is an excellent point and addresses my question, as there must be some reason we have to go directly to the forum. They should remove that unfollow button from the forum emails if that is the case, but it will take you to the forum.
I have also seen that if I click on the unfollow button at a mail related to forum discussion, it says "Error". But, you can click the message and when it takes to the forum page, from there you can immediately unfollow by clicking the unfollow button at the right hand corner on top. So, it requires only one more extra click to unfollow and we should not be sorry for that extra clicking.
Hi Ven,
Thank you for taking time to answer here. Yes, that is true, just one more click. I am just curious why it is different than hubs from an email.
Have a lovely evening.

I think not.The Help Forum, and Official HubPages Announcements should be open to them until they create at least one hub, at which time Extreme Makeover, Report a Problem or Suggest a New Feature and Suggest Report a Problem or Suggest a New Feature might open. After 5, open 30 Hubs in 30...

It looks like a fourth of my feed lately is comprised of new people wanting the rest of us to tell them how to write. All day I get request after request for help on passing the Quality Assessment. I mean Really? Many of your requests are just one step above being a jumble of mis-spelled words...

When I first started out with hubpages I followed hundreds of people, because I wanted them to follow me back, because I though that's how you get readers to come to your hub. I recently found out that following a lot of people reduces your hubscore, plus I cancelled my updates on the hubbers I...
