Are Spammers Trying to take Over,
I was just clicking through a few topics categories, checking some of my hub placements, mostly new ones and I noticed the Holiday and Christmas Categories are dominated by one hubber, one that joined two days ago and posted 34 hubs. This action is apparently driving everyone off the latest topics pages.
I checked a hub or two and they appear to me to be nothing more than cut & pasted ad copy and loaded CTR ads.
Anyone else seen this?
I have not seen this but it does not surprise me either.
Can you report the user for spam? If so that would be the best idea I think.
Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. If it is plagiarized, you can find the original source, and alert them. They can file a report. If it is not plagiarized, then realize that someone is working really hard, and hopefully they will improve their format soon.
Spammers get found out, eventually, and copied content does not rank well. So, while it may be at the top of the latest list, it will not rank hot or best.
Merry Christmas!
that one does look.. interesting, especially the user name.
if you feel like checking it out, just google some of the content and see what comes up.
merry holidays~
The spammers are always trying to take over.
Please, please, please - when you see spammy Hubs, flag them. It makes our job a lot easier at keeping the site clean. We have been developing technologies that identify potentially-violating Hubs, but technology is never perfect (there will always be false-positives and false-negatives).
I know a number of you do flag, and believe me, we and the entire community owe you thanks. Please keep it up!
Thanks for your answer, Jason. Sometimes flagging seems so unproductive.
It is very productive - although you guys are the unsung heroes of HubPages. We definitely appreciate it.
Okay that's just cool, the tree I mean...that the hubs are is pretty neat also
As we can't hunt them down and beat them with a week old mackeral ... then flag them we will.
Interesting though the hubs are down, the links are still all over the Latest topics pages.

This might be my last forum post because I am tired. I can't be wasting my time beating a dead horse.HP is a business and they need to start treating their business more seriously. They need a task force to sit and brain storm about how to keep spammers out in the first place.I know that I have...

We've had a handful of spammers lately. Yes, it's not okay. Please report them rather than comment on their spam. I doubt the spammers even read your reproaches, and posting comments circulates the situation. Ideally, HP should evaluate their "new writers" better.

Along with the Google effect lately I've seen a lot of forum posts about spam, and every time I hub hop it is obvious that there is a lot submitted here of both spam and simply substandard hubs.I would suggest that the following rules apply to the first 5 (or 10 or 20?) hubs by any new...

I've been on here for a few years, and I guess I never really understood the point of these scores. They don't seem to provide any real value to the user and I can't convince myself that they add value because they fluctuate so much. What's the point? Am I supposed to use these scores to tell me...
