There seems to be a trend for creating long collage pins for Pinterest.  I am curious to know how these might display on the front page of the niche site pages.  I notice that some of my longer images are cut off when displayed there.  Is there a specific size that HubPages would prefer us to use?

      Hi Sally,

I'm not sure what the cutoff is, but I've pinged the engineers to look it up for me and I'll let you know when I hear back.

We crop images on the homepage when the height is more than 40% larger than the width of the image.

Hi Christy, as I understand it Pinterest like images which are around 735 x 2000.  The rectangle will often include two pictures in a frame with a band across with some writing to tease a viewer in.  What would happen to such an image if it were cropped on the homepage, please?  Perhaps I should just try one and see if a picture is being displayed on the front page works or not.  Would it automatically update or would you have to view it beforehand?  I appreciate your help, thank you.

The image would still show up normally on the article itself, the whole image simply would not show on the Network Site homepage.

Thanks, Christy, that is helpful.  I did not want to mess up your beautiful front page by adding the wrong size image in the first place.

This is something I was wondering too when the switch over occurred to large display images. Short pins are not often shared on Pinterest it seems.

I am using Adobe Spark to create Pinterest friendly images and they come out beautiful there.

That is very useful to know, thank you.  I have been looking at PicMonkey (some bad reviews regarding overcharging after the free trial) but looks good to use and I tried Canva yesterday and made one graphic for my sunflower hat tutorial.  It seems to work well.  I looked up Adobe Spark but wonder how much it costs after the free trial?  I am really glad to have started this discussion as I now realize that I definitely have not been concentrating enough on my Pinterest Account so as to drive even more traffic.

From the research I have seen I have read that 600 x 1560 or 600 x 900 is the ideal picture sizes for Pinterest. The guide I was reading stated that 600 x 900 is best.

Hi Eric, it seems pretty unclear as it seems to alter from year to year so I am glad you wrote that.  What program have you been using to make your images?  I did think about Canva or PicMonkey but could use Publisher.

I use GIMP and try to make my own pictures. That or I save screen shots as I write Hubs about video games often. I mostly crop and resize them.

I will look into software you mentioned though as I have heard of it but not used it.

If you don't make it your first photo, it won't effect the way it shows up on the niche sites at all.

That sounds like good advice, thank you.
