How the Amazon earnings program works

    I just signed up for the Amazon earnings program. I read the details but am still not quite sure how the earnings are made. Does it have to do with Amazon product links in the Amazon capsule? I'm really kind of confused.

      You put a link to an Amazon product on your hub.  If someone follows it, and buys anything - anything at all - within the next 24 hours you receive a commission on it.  Most of the sales I'm paid for are for things I did not advertise (I write about home improvement).  Women's underwear or cosmetics.  Food products.  Sex toys, for Pete's sake!  I've gotten commissions on all of it.

      But that link must be for a product you have used and can recommend.  It must be pertinent to the hub topic, and I don't mean just peripherally.  It must for something discussed in the hub.

      Write a recipe for something that requires a very special and hard to find utensil.  Talk about it and why it is necessary.  Discuss your use of it.  Show a picture of it on your counter-top, being used.  A link is fine.

      Write the same recipe and give a link to purchase flour from Amazon and it will be snipped (deleted) right back out.  HubPages has pretty strict rules about Amazon links - your hub is to be about information, not an ad to sell a product.

    Wow, all these years at Hubpages and I literally NEVER knew this.  I should start trying to utilize Amazon capsules now.
