    Hi Hubbers,

I'd like some help with passing the Quality Assessment Process. Will you please give feedback on my article I didn't need an intervention for my addiction (must be signed in to view). What can I do to improve? Thanks!

I am signed in, but when I clicked on the link, it just said Page Not Found - Please sign in if you are the author. Strange.  There must be a reason for this, as I haven't been blocked from reviewing an article before.

The original message was posted over a week ago so it's likely they took their content and left. There's no activity on the account.

Did you take it down to work on it maybe? Okay I see it.

Basically, this is just someone else's words that you have written up here.  If it is a real person as is suggested by you changing the name, do you have their permission to post their words online?  Even if you have changed the name they might not feel good about their experiences etc. being put up for others to see.

What is the point of the article?  Instead of including all of the material quoted from the individual, incorporate it into a larger discussion using small bits of it to emphasize whatever points you are making.  What are you trying to say?  Regarding AA types of programs this is just one option and not necessarily the best option for everyone.  Nor is it ideal in the complete absence of other types of interventions for those who are truly addicted to drugs or alcohol due to how dangerous getting off substances can be if not done under medical supervision.  So you should at least mention other types of programs and definitely add disclaimers and warnings.

Be careful about suggesting that people can just stop a substance they are addicted to without any type of intervention.  First of all AA programs would technically be considered an intervention.  But also this implies that it's not necessarily the exception - and rare exception - to the rule.  Besides the legalities of this perhaps being able to be viewed as medical advice (again - add disclaimers and warnings) it can potentially harm some individuals who are suffering from substance use disorders.  Often people who are addicted have tried to stop taking the drug but have failed.  They already often feel as if they are weak and suggesting that it can be done without intervention when they have failed makes matters worse.  This can lead to something else they may feel the need to block out using drugs.

The slant right now feels a tad bit promotional - as if you are pushing AA type programs.  Even if not quite promotional the opinions this person has might put some people off.  In particular what is now the end which reads "Everybody needs the program even if it is just for fulfillment. Everybody is, to some degree, an addict. We all have that something that we use to fill a void or to validate us. Fulfillment comes when you realize that you are not perfect and accept that fact, but don’t stay idle in that imperfection."  It seems like she is saying that even people who don't use drugs or alcohol, have perhaps never even tried them are still addicts.  While there are certainly other types of addictions this is a bold statement to make.  Maybe a case could be made for each of us being addicted to something but this does not mean that AA type programs are what we need and the debate is more appropriate for a philosophy discussion.
